How many times has Sam died??? And why???

(This will have spoilers for Lucy’s reports btw)

So it’s confirmed that each handprint is a time Sam has died and he has a lot of them before the game ever even starts. The reports talk about how Bridges has been using Sam’s repaitriantism to its advantage somehow? What has Bridget been making poor Sam do??

Then there’s the whole Bridget saying that Amalie mostly raised Sam and she took him to the beach a lot when he was younger thing. So he was raised... partially in the world of the dead?? I think at one point Amalie says she brings him to her beach in his dreams, which is backed up by him waking up after each time they talk. (At least mostly sometimes she’s a hologram) So... is she just... popping his soul out? He’s dying in his sleep every time..??

There’s a cut scene early on in the game with kid Sam is crying on the beach and Amalie finds him and asks if he’s gotten lost again. He says yes and gives her the quipu. The way this scene plays out it doesn’t seem like kid Sam was brought there. So he died somehow? Did he die on purpose to give her the necklace..? Or does he have some kind of condition where his heart stops sometimes when he sleeps..? The again implies he’s been there and gotten lost a least a few times before...

Anyways I’d love to hear people’s opinions on this!!!

Chopper felt scared, knowing that someone just started following him. Another "follower," began stalking him. With a shaky voice, the reindeer stopped walking, calling out to the potential threat. "Who are you!? I don't want any trouble!"

In the distance Cliff had saw some kind of...deer? It looked odd but of course his hunter instincts kicked in as he tracked the reindeer and observed it from a good distance. Until it spoke.

‘Did that just speak to me? How is that even possible?!’ Clifford pondered before he came out from the brush and stood in clear sight.

“ You must have good hearing if you could pick up that I was the one tracking you. I’m curious, what exactly are you...? “
