His eyes roamed over the check list his father had given him to repair at his studio, it was one of those times Jayden stepped in. Usually he sat behind a desk at home managing the finances of the studio, making sure everything went smoothly whilst managing and setting up other businesses as well. It was the least he could do after all these years for his parents. Now his own business was doing more than well and he had nothing to really worry about anymore.
“Hey, Cari!” He greeted the blonde at the sound board, only to realise she was sound asleep. A small smile lingered upon his lips as he turned around to make her some coffee. She was nice, always friendly. But though she never complained he knew she wore often the weight of the world upon her shoulders. She was an old soul, wiser than many others her age. He knelt down in front of her, his large hand resting upon her shoulder to lightly shake her away. “Good evening sleepy head.” He grinned her way before handing her the coffee. “Long day?” He asked as he looked around a bit. “Let me wrap up this list and I will drop you off home, alright?”
She knew the next day would be just as busy as this one and she had to have everything ready for it, no more technical hitches. Everyone was already gone, called it a day and went home, she was probably the last one at the studio. She was in some ways a perfectionist - everything had to be ready so she would have to just come to work and not worry about a thing. Downing the last remains of Coca Cola she got at McDonald’s during her lunch break, Cari wrinkled her nose. It was watery from the melted ice and completely flat. The paper glass flew in the trash can before she turned her eyes to the computer’s screen. Something went wrong with it during the last session almost messing up the work that they had done. She googled for the answers and came to a conclusion that some drivers needed to be re-installed. As she waited for the last ones to complete installing themselves, Cari propped her head on her arm and waited, and waited. and waited...
It felt like just a few seconds had passed when she felt a hand on her shoulder lightly shaking her back into reality. She took a deep, sudden breath before straightened herself up. “Yes, yes, I’m here.” She mumbled in a hoarse voice, her eyes fluttering open. She looked around before noticing Jayden kneeling in front of her. Confused she looked at him, then a sheepish smile appeared on her lips when she finally registered what he had said a moment ago. “Good evening,” she replied with a small chuckle feeling embarrassed about falling asleep at workplace. “You could say so...” Cari tilted her head slightly and took the coffee from him. Her head felt cloudy and her arm, that she had been sleeping on, was partly numb, she was surprised she didn’t slip from it and hadn’t banged her head on the desk. “What? No, I don’t need a lift, I have my own ride. Let me just... wake up a bit. I’ll be fine,” she waved it off.
