location:Â adrianâs apartment, late evening.
for helena, home was NEVER just something with four walls. even in her childhood home, it was much less a home than it was a staffed hamptons palace. mother, with her far-gone hazy eyes that only shimmered at the sight of LUXURY, and father who was hardly present enough to possess the title. helena learned to make homes within people. WITHIN HERSELF. but even so, it was not a title she could assign to the relationship she had with adrian. because naming it would make things tangible, it would make their relationship real in a way something precious could be had and lost. but whatever it was, it was neither something that could be owned by either of them nor STRAYED. Â
admittedly, helena was content with simply being within whatever exactly they had with each other. and that was home for her, to exist without RESTRICTION. and exist she did, often beneath the sheathe of night. nights such as this one, where the woman lounged upon his couch, legs curled beneath her as the sound of the television playing law & order reruns dulled quietly in the background. the work week had neared itâs end, and rather than sulking over a bottle of cabernet in the privacy of her OWN home, helena opted to do so at adrianâs.  â you know,  â helena began, spooning a final mouthful of cereal before turning her dim gaze over to the television.  â i really donât know how people can watch this show â i mean, isnât it just the same thing every episode ? cops being cops isnât exactly my idea of COMFORT tv.  â  Â
Well, now he had been single for a few years and definitely not been looking for a new relationship. But... he did have friends, acquaintances and some of them came with benefits. Helena came with benefits, and she was here tonight. Even if they were just watching tv instead of moving this party for two into the bedroom, it already provided against this sort of loneliness that he often felt when he didnât have Gabriel over. His feet were on his table -- because fuck it, it was his own home, and he enjoyed some breakfast for dinner. Yeah, his cooking skills were not really worth mentioning, especially not when someone else was supposed to eat it. Sure, take away was an option, but you couldnât order from the same five restaurants in a row and get away with to make up for the lack of skills in the kitchen. So, cereal it was. Also, she had not complained soo...
To her words, his attention turned slightly over, âWell, itâs something worth binging,â he explained with a shrug, rotating between eating cereal and drinking wine. The match definitely made no sense but hey -- who cares? âIt has an endless amount of seasons, spin offâs -- also, thereâs lawyers, not only cops.â Yeah, it was worth mentioning. âWhatâs comfort television for you then?â
