I don’t want to fall in love... so I took a running start...

I now know why a lot of people don't give a crap about social issues. It's hard to care. It sucks reading article after article, watching video after video, hearing story after story from person after person regarding injustice murders, rape, discrimination, oppression, hate, disregard for humanity. It sucks. It feels like hope is being drained out of you. When every week there is a new hashtag of another African American murdered by cops. A new story of a Chicago shooting. A story about mass incarceration, mandatory minimums, and basically ALL the crap that native Americans face that I can't even begin to mention. Life would be a million times easier to just give up, accept it and (as a white male) just live and enjoy my life. But I'd much rather throw myself into clinical depression, be chronically discouraged, and even move to places where I could be shot for my skin, if that means making a difference for even one person. Sure, complacency is easier. But it also isn't worth it.

Shout out to my beautiful girl frand, for encouraging me even when she isn't trying. You are a painting that makes me want to write poems, like a museum demands art.
