belladonna & goldenrod
belladonna :  how does your muse respond to silence ?  do they take comfort in soundlessness ,  or seek to fill the void with noise ? Â
sofia - silence is something she absolutely hates. it makes her feel uneasy to be left alone without a companion to fill the void. although she preferably selects said company, she does take comfort in background noise.Â
saersha - the void of soundlessness allows her to connect with her thoughts and with her surroundings, and for that reason she does find herself enjoying the moments of silence throughout the day. it keeps her calm and collected, and once she returns to the noise she feels more grounded.Â
goldenrod :  does your muse believe in luck or fortune ?  why or why not ?  where do they believe these things come from ? Â
sofia - no. what she believes in is hard work and dedication. anyone can do anything. surely, a hint of luck is required, but it is not luck or fortune alone which leads to greatness.Â
saersha - she believes greatly in luck and fortune. for saersha, fate is written in the stars and whether good or bad things happen to someone is limited to their fortune and luck above all.

âOh there is always something that needs to be done,â Helena smiled. âHe grew up in Galicia but came to England in his teens, had all these big dreams of setting up his own business.â She explained with a fond smile. âIt didnât work out and he and my mother relocated to France just before I was born but he was happy enough.â
.Â
âlife would be utterly boring if that was not the case,â sofia added. she hated having nothing to occupy her time. her days had always been packed, and admittedly she always used to get upset with her late husband whenever he suggested that she gives herself some time to simply relax. that was not something that she was capable of doing it. âah, galicia. i love it there.â she listened to the rest of the story, noting that the other was possibly part of the french entourage. âand what is it that you do in france?â she questioned, to confirm her suspicions.Â
flowersgrwâ:
âAs long as you donât wake him you wonât be bothering me,â Niamh said, her voice taking on a softness which hadnât been present before. As much as she may have acted like she cared little for family she did love them. It was just hard for her to actually show it. When Saersha stood Niamh gave a small sigh closing the gap between them. âHis name is Neill, and donât let the cuteness trick you as soon as heâs awake heâll be showing off those Irish lungs of his.â
.
âi promise i will be as quiet as possible,â saersha assured her aunt. she would hate to ruin the babyâs peaceful sleep, and his motherâs moments of rest. the irish princess always wished that things between her mother and her aunt were not the way they were. family was important to her, and she loathed the fact that they were estranged. as she caught a glimpse of her cousinâs face, she could not help but grin as her heart warmed up in her chest. âneill. heâs adorable. i would say itâs a good thing to show off. iâve always been told that a good cry means a healthy child,â she noted, recalling the details in her birth story and how her own weak cry had concerned everyone.
flowersgrwâ:
âDoesnât that make it exciting though? Not knowing whatâs around the corner with someone?â The last few years had done a lot to make Aisha more skeptical about peopleâs intentions whilst at the same time making her far more curious. âDid the rest of your family make it here okay? I saw your mother earlier.â
.
âi fear thatâs too much excitement for me. i love another personâs company when itâs good. but people leave, they can hurt you, and despite it all you still love them. natureâs always going to be there for you though,â she shrugged. she could still imagine her brotherâs presence in the midst of nature. for some time she had believed that the small robin that kept landing on her chamberâs windowsill was conor. some would think her crazy, but she liked to believe that he would never leave. âyes, they did! it was a nice journey actually. we got lucky with the weather, and the seas were calm.â
loyalcnesâ:
for a moment he had thought it was his fault, surprised. but ever the gentleman he shook his head. he hadnât been able to get a good look at the woman with the lowlights of the candles but finally he saw the red hair. âoh cousin,â he laughed, why did he laugh? âyou must excuse me, i fear as the night goes on the lower my eyes get and the less i am aware.â
.
this trip to portugal was surely proving to be an opportunity to reunite with her family. she had not seen the duke of hastings in ages, but despite the time and distance he would always remain family. âitâs wonderful to see you! even if you might have ruined my dress,â she told him with a soft chuckle. âalthough i will forgive you if you dance with me. you obviously have to accept the possibility of me stepping on your toes, but i promise i would not do so in retaliation. itâs simply because i am a terrible dancer.â

somtimes gabby wondered how sophia was so mature when they were only a year, at most, apart. maybe it was the weight of the crown and being the oldest. but always gabby had a sense of pride to the other. the way soph held herself, maintained a poker face but with a heart of gold. sometimes when gabby was writing in their journal all she could talk about was her love and pride to have such a soul as her sister. the thought now brought tears to their eyes, but they were able to blink them away. they secretly had been so worried about the war and sophia going to join, god it scared the literal shit out of them. she was the second born, if soph died well⌠gabby would be the crowned heir. and never had they wanted that. they wanted to nurture their mind and soul, they were selfish while sophia was giving and kind.
âi was,â they agreed, looking to the other. âi believe so many others were as well, soph. spain is a beautiful country as are the people so rich with culture and history but sometimes ⌠i can only take so much of telling different visitors the same story of how our ancestors prevailed.â she was sure she was tired of those stories when she was learning with tutors.Â
gabriella saw the servant scurry away, probably wanting not to miss a second as the two gossiped and flipped their hearts out to each other. not that gabriella could blame them, they were sure maids and servants heard many ⌠many things. they could only imagine the gossip they spoke about to each other. they looked back to their sister, biting their lip. they hadnât meant to bring up the past, and so soon after. they were almost sure the body was only half cold by now, their finger nails and toes still growing. âah, all trying to prod you and trying for you to speak on what spain wants out of the treaty? i wish them well, once your mind is made up, there is no going back.â unlike gabby who seemed to never be able to decide on anything. âi am sure it will end soon, i am so sure that a new gossip will take over their minds.â
.
ever since she was a young girl, sofia was shaped to be a queen. it was her lifeâs mission, and she was trained to be prepared to assume the role at any time. life was unpredictable after all, and one could never know when the time would have come for her to sit on the spanish throne. she never minded - if anything, she was eager for the day that she would be crowned queen, although she never wished an untimely demise for her father. and she acknowledge the fact that gabriella had not been prepared for the role. maybe sofia was selfish enough to hold on tightly to the role that was her birthright, but she also knew that they would have a much more difficult time settling into it than she ever would.Â
âwell, i kept telling you to stay with me in aragon whenever you grew bored of home. bernardo would not have minded having you around,â she reminded the other, shoulders raising just slightly in a small shrug. âfather would say that you have to tell that story even here. we must remind everyone of the bravery of our ancestors,â she joked, mimicking their fatherâs voice as she spoke.Â
she noticed gabriella biting their lip, and sofiaâs hand instantly moved to rest on top of the otherâs. the events were still too fresh in her mind, the void he left behind was unlikely to be filled, and even if he would not have been the man she would have chosen if she did have a choice ten years ago, sofia still loved him. she would always love him, one thing she never thought she would say when she promised him love until death do them apart. âi have every intention of keeping them curious until the talks officially start. some would get ideas from my plans, and i would hate that. my darling, the spot for the future king consort of spain is available - the ones eyeing it will not stop until they get it.â
hmevelynâ:
âIs that how you speak to the woman who birthed you??â She cried, her own laugh erupting from her chest as she took hold of her daughters hand and was hoisted up onto her feet. Truth be told, her head was swimming a little from all the drinks sheâd had. âMyself and my rump thank you for your pity.â She grinned, dusting off her dress before she held up her hand to start the moves again. âWhat have I told you about making promised you canât keep, my girl ?â Evelyn gave her that motherly look as she laced her pinky around her daughters, but moments later she couldnât stop her own snickering. Neither of them were good dancers but they enjoyed doing it none the less. âWhat?? It is a legitimate inquiry? Am I not allowed to wish my daughter the happiness of a suitor?â Evie shrugged, a naughty smirk playing on her lips as they began the steps again. âI know losing Conor has been hard for you, for all of us. Portugal is meant to be a fresh start for our family, and Iâd like to see you to find someone to make you truly happy here. You are far too pretty to be dancing with me all night, not that I donât enjoy you stepping all over my toes, wee one.â
.
âno. i tell her i love her. every. single. day,â saersha told her mother with a smirk, sticking her tongue out just slightly at her mother just like she used to do when she was a young girl who had every intent of teasing her mother until the other smiled. once her mother was safely off the floor, saersha raised her eyebrows slowly as she realized that the other had every intention of dancing again. the princess knew her mother well, and she knew that she had too many drinks for her to dance further. âmama, i changed my mind. maybe what you need is to sit down and drink something that does not have alcohol in it. you are going to fall without me having stepped on your toes,â she pointed out. it was probably the other way round for other people, with the mother warning their child to be more responsible. but saersha knew that her mother had dealt with her demons the irish way, and she worried that people will think less of her and judge her if they noticed. but she still danced with her mother, threading carefully to not let her fall down again. her face fell when her brother was mentioned. no amount of time could ever heal the emptiness that he left behind. he had always been her protector, the one who promised that she would get her prince charming who would love her like all the heroes in the novels she enjoyed did. but now conor was gone, and sometimes she doubted how any of the suitors could ever make her happy the way he had promised she would be. âi donât think a suitor can take conor off my mind, mama. he was my brother and no one can take his place. not even the most gentlemanly of suitors. besides, iâve heard they are rare to come by. so until then, i am more than happy to make sure you stay on your feet whilst dancing with me.â

â â Open
As it was expected and not at all surprising, Elizabeth could be found at the dessert table. Her sweet tooth always took the best of her, and although she was supposed to be on her best behaviour, Bess couldnât help but enjoy the delicious treats that were served. Sensing a presence arriving, the princess discreetly licked the sugar off her lips and looked up, offering a gentle, perhaps a bit guilty, smile. âEverything looks so pretty and delicious, it was impossible to stay away. Worry not, there are enough pastries for the both of us.â
.
in between the champagne, the wine, and masked faces, it was becoming more and more challenging to recognize others. which in a way worked in her favor, because she was clearly identified by her red hair in the crowd. yet even if she could not tell who the other was by sight only, there was no mistaking the voice. it was a permanent memory etched in her mind since childhood, with no chance of it ever leaving. âare those pasteis de nata? i have heard so much about them! oh dear bess, i will eat everything on this table if you donât stop me!â
fionastrtâ:
âCome on, dance with me,â the Scottish queen said, a smile on her delicate facial features. She had a couple of drinks and was feeling much more relaxed and sociable than she usually was. After being stressed for the last several months, she felt like she deserved to have some fun for once. âUnless you donât think you can keep up, of course.âÂ
.Â
âit would be my pleasure,â the spanish crown princess said, setting down an empty wine glass onto a passing servantâs tray. she always loved the allure of masquerade balls, the thought that people believed they could not be recognized and still one could easily tell who the other was unless the face was completely obscured. âi promise i am quite lithe on my feet, and i have practiced my dances. i do not doubt my ability to keep up with you. shall we?â
loyalcnesâ:
the duke of hastings had, somehow, gotten in without a mask. the duke wasnât one for large parties, but being here he needed to show his support to his country and the men and woman who had fallen for this. he stood at the lemonade table, ready to turn and. âshit.â
.
saersha had found the night to be quite enjoyable so far. even if she was not the greatest of dancers, the irish princess found herself not caring much about her missteps. she could be fooled into thinking that the mask was hiding her features, but she was aware that her red hair would give her away almost immediately. she found herself feeling quite thirsty after a particularly upbeat dance, and her eyes caught sight of the lemonade table. quickly she made her way over, a tad bit too eager, and ended up knocking the duke of hastingâs lemonade glass out of his hands and onto her dress. âoh no!â she exclaimed, a drawn-out sigh leaving her lips as she assessed the damage. âwell, thankfully the place is crowded and hopefully no one notices.â

gabriella couldnât think of a time they were not close. maybe it was because of how close they were in age. sometimes, if it wasnât for gabbyâs immaturity, they were sure they could be passed off for twins. there was something about how they could look at each other and just know. or have an idea of what the other was thinking.Â
âthat we were allowed out of the gates of our spanish home,â gabriella replied, as if it were so obvious. gabriella had always love spain but somehow they were also a restless spirit, always wanting to be moving or doing something. once she had toured a castle and learned what was in every corner the interest was gone. and gabriella had long ago become restless.Â
a smile grew on their face as well. ah wine, it was something gabriella had always loved. they remembered stealing from the kitchen glasses and then the whole thing of wine. the sweeter the better. she had grown so in love with win they had chose to try and make their own. âi would love some wine,â they agreed. âyou can tell me about which conversation bored you the most as well.âÂ
they moved, sitting down softly and resting their back against the back of the couch. âmaybe its the air of being so close to the coast but it just ⌠was magical. i wasnât hot within two seconds of stepping outside, and the people were somehow nice. but that might just be because i am not the crowned sibling.â
.
the sistersâ bond had always been unbreakable. since they were little girls they stuck together, with the eldest protecting the younger sister as though she was much older in age, even if what divided them were merely a few months. that was sofia, always taking care of her family even before realizing what that protection truly meant. she trusted herself to let her guard down around gabriella. her sibling was one of the few people who saw her cry, who saw her despair. she was the one she sought out when she needed to allow herself to feel something. often times she did not need say anything, for gabriella would know what was going through her mind with just a glance in her direction.Â
a soft chuckle left the crown princessâ lips at the otherâs remark. âyou were clearly so eager to leave home,â she noted. it was ironic, how the spanish royal palace always remained her home even if it was not so for ten years. the return, even if only for a few months, had been welcomed by sofia. she had almost been too hesitant to leave its comfort for portugal, but she had to do her duty.
she called out for a servant, instructing them to bring up wine for the spanish royals before looking at gabriella. âif i had to tell you about all the boring conversations, we would be up all night,â she joked, although a part of her was being quite honest. âyou really seem to be enjoying it. i must admit the place is lovely. it is close enough to home to not make me feel homesick, so i am glad we gathered here. but yes, you are lucky about that. a recently widowed crown princess seems to attract a lot of attention, and much to my dismay it is not quite the attention i was seeking.â
flowersgrwâ:
Aisha gave a small shrug watching Saershaâs reaction rather than the nature itself. âI tend to find beauty in people rather than nature. The way someoneâs smile can light up their whole face is far more interesting to me.â Aisha smiled looking away when she realised that was likely a strange answer. âI remain the same, although I must admit it is nice to see everyone in a more, stable, situation.â
.
âwell, people can be quite interesting too. although people can hurt you. nature takes care of you if you take care of it, and itâs the simplicity of it all that makes it so wonderful.â she knew people would not always understand her fascination, but she had always felt a connection with nature that most did not. after all, people were a part of nature too. âthatâs true. even if people are still on edge, at least thereâs no more fighting. i couldnât wish for anything more than that.â
