TPds, May 31, 2017. Mewman anatomical chart A quote from the official Mewni biology textbook; A mewman's magic glands (represented in purple) are how they interact with magic. Magic glands are located in a mewman's cheeks, under their armpits, on their backs (not visible in diagram), and intertwined with their reproductive organs. The cheek glands are the largest of the glands and are also the first to develop, reaching their full size while still in the womb. This rapid development is due to the mother's reproductive glands (see: reproductive glands). These glands are the mewman's primary way of interacting with magic and are able to be directly controlled by the brain. To accommodate for these glands mewmans lack some saliva glands and so must keep their mouths hydrated by other methods. The cheek glands are also causes cheek marks to form. The underarm glands are very thin but very tall, and are where the extra arms of the butterfly form come from. When not in use the extra arms are pulled into the glands for storage. Related to the underarm glands are the back glands which store the butterfly form wings while not in use. Both the back and underarm glands are not developed at birth and take many years to develop to a point when they can be used, and when they first become developed enough the body naturally checks to see if they function properly. This cannot be controlled by the brain and will happen anywhere from the age of 13 to 17, depending on how fast the glands develop. This trial run is called "mewberty" and signifies that the mewman is entering adulthood. After mewberty the brain is in full control of the back and underarm glands. The reproductive glands only purpose is to pass on magic to the next generation. While an heir is in the womb the reproductive glands supply magic to the fetus to rapidly increase the development of their cheek glands so that they are fully formed once born. The reproductive glands are also the last glands to form, reaching adulthood at about age 16 to 20. Because of their importance in the developmental process of the fetus it is actually impossible for a mewman to become pregnant before the reproductive glands develop, so the adulthood of their reproductive glands also signifies their sexual maturity.
