“I’ll take one to go.” [Closed]
It was close to opening day. Thranduil had finally finished putting up his menu boards. Long blondish silver hair fell over his shoulder after a stretch. Overlooking the lobby, he spotted another being, on their way to a door that belonged to a diner.
Oh yes, he had bought his building right across from it, for competition. He was full of himself that his business would steal the customers.
Pride was his greatest flaw when it came to competitions. The diner was quaint. But it was time for it to slowly stumble to the ground.
The oven's heat warmed his face as Mikhail removed two chocolate pies, setting them on the counter to cool. The early morning rush had come and gone, and all of his cinnamon rolls had sold out once again. Even people who didnt stay to eat came by to grab some before they ran out, and he prided himself on having once been awarded by the local paper the 'best pastry in town' award.
He stepped away to take his break and lit a cigarette, peering across the way at the new spot, surprised to see someone inside for the first time. It irked him a little that they would choose to make another bakery literally across the street. Of all places, surely there were less competitive spots. Still, he raised a hand in greeting to the figure between puffs.
The knowledge of the opposing bakery across the street, being so successful in its years of business made Thranduil decide it was a challenge. His family was of great success in all things culinary and baking. In fact, his family owned a restaurant chain almost in every state and several places in Europe. But not this town. He loved his family, but he wanted a different change of pace and scenery. So he moved here.
Thranduil snapped out of his life history daze and glanced over to find the other’s hand waving in his direction. He gave one more stretch and stepped out with the chime of a bell following before the door closed. He repeated the greeting back to them, walking over to the pedestrian crossing and started his way over toward Mikhail.
