Even before Armand became extremely rich the most work Daniel had to do for Armand was wake up in the middle of the night to explain modern things and buy the plane tickets, and I guess hangs out with him while Armand interviews random people.

Armand randomly pays him in hundreds of dollar bills for literally no reason and buys him food and even rescues him from jail during the chase period. Armand takes him to the theater and concerts and movies and night classes and they argue for fun.
