The purpose of prayer isn't to effect a physical change in the world (eg, the healing of a sick loved one). It's to bring you closer to God via either the affirmation or denial of your desires. Unfortunately, once you know that, I mean once you're aware that it's only an exercise to strengthen your faith, regardless of whether or not you truly believe in a higher power, it no longer works. That's why you can't fake AA.
I think that the NBA is racist because it's just another Minstrel show for black men to be glorified and paid for their bodies and their bodies only. I also think that the NHL is racist because it's constantly featuring white people who come from northern European countries in identify bloodlines. And even though that's all sounds super racist I think I'm right
I'm worried that more and more, the opiate of the masses is just... opiates.

The time can come pretty quickly. If you can't keep them comfortable, and they seem averse to lots of the things they used to love, then you know it's time to take their pain and make it yours.

Lucky's Journal of Sobriety #1
If not now, when?
If nothing changes, nothing changes.
No more half measures!
I've been saying over and over and over, that I'll quit drinking but I never meant it because I don't just want to quit drinking, and I don't want to just quit smoking, or eating like shit, or not exercising or practicing good habits and hobbies.
I want to do it ALL. I want to be a better person and quitting drinking but continuing to smoke and otherwise treat my body like shit doesn't accomplish anything.
I am mission oriented. It's time to have it all!
I CAN have it all!
Both men and women are children of the sun and the moon.
I think in general we all need to calm down about trans stuff, because there is a such thing as feminine and masculine Energies. Terry Pratchett book equal rights says witches normally work with what actually exists in the world, but a wizard can, if he's good enough, put Flesh on his imagination
Neither of those things are wrong, and neither are they the full solution for how to operate in the world. It just so happens that 50% of people are born with an innate ability to view and manipulate the world in one way, and 50% are born with the other.
But today, and to be honest, as long as Humanity has existed, this is been a thing, humans transcended. Women warriors, male homemakers, those aren't titles that anyone can or should find all that weird.
But those titles don't disallow the idea that a woman warrior is a special thing, or a male mom is a special thing. There are things to be cherished, thanks to be celebrated, but that doesn't make them the norm. And I feel like we're arguing that everyone is normal when we're not anymore. Everyone is special!
I might be losing the track so I'm going to end this thing with a quote. Again it's from equal rites. Why was it that when she heard granny ramble on about witchcraft she longed for The Cutting magic of Wizardry, but whenever she heard treatle speak in his high-pitched voice she would fight to the death for witchcraft? She'd be both, or none at all. And the more they intended to stop her, the more she wanted it. She'd be a witch and a wizard too. And she would show them.
It will come perfect circle,
It will cut through wood like butter.
You know, the grass is always greener
And the gravity grows stronger.
I'm not sure how to differentiate what I want to be from what I admire.
But I don't think they're always the same thing.

Probably part of the reason i have struggled to stop drinking is because wanting to quit while simultaneously wanting to never quit is called cognitive dissonance, as This Naked Mind helpfully points out.
If there's one thing I'm exceptional at, it's maintaining cognitive dissonance. I'm a gifted liar, and in my teens I was a decent actor. I'm good at arguments and conflict resolution because I'm quite good at holding two positions or points of view in my mind simultaneously.
So what can be an advantage sometimes is definitely a weakness when it comes to quitting drinking.
As a certain point, money stops representing nicer and nicer things. There's only so nice things can get before the user of those things starts to feel alienated from them. And at that point, money becomes power. You can't get nicer nicer things, so the only Avenue left, the only new game in town, is producing results in regards to your values and beliefs by leveraging power. Maybe power isn't the right word, maybe it's control. With the most money, the more people around you will do what you tell them. And if you're the kind of psycho that can become Mega rich, then you already believe that that's your Birthright and you finally can wield that Birthright the way you were meant to.
I found your hair. Just one. Why am i still finding your hair? It's so beautiful. So frail. I miss you so much.
But I won't break. I can't. For your sake, and mine. I will always love you so much. But for our sake, whenever I think of it, I will do my best to ignore it.
Goodbye, again, a thousand times already, a thousand times again in the future.
I'll say this a thousand more times. But you will never hear it.
I wonder if autoimmune diseases affect women more than men. I know several women who have or may have autoimmune diseases like fibromyalgia or lupus, but no men.
OR is it that the symptoms of these diseases involve constant, low-level pain and discomfort and men have generally been trained to ignore/downplay that sort of thing because "I'm tired all the time" and "My muscles constantly hurt" are not traditionally masculine reasons to seek medical attention.
Okay, so I have a theory about men and women, and why it seems like men tend to go for younger women and women tend to go for older men. On the face of it, you can say it seems pretty simple. In a patriarchal society, men have more power, and men like younger women, so regardless of whether or not women actually prefer older men, they end up with them.
This will be a post with a lot of generalizations.
So that theory could be true, without necessarily invalidating the following one. I think it has to do with the first boyfriend or girlfriend a person has. When a young man hurts the first girlfriend and she leaves him because of it, he looks back at that relationship and feels guilty. He wants to fix it but he can’t anymore. So he’s subconsciously tied to the idea of finding a way to reconcile without the ability to actually do so. So he seeks out younger women because they offer an opportunity to make things right. A redo.
I think those young women on the other hand, see the same situation and want to move forward, to avoid the things that have already happened to them. So they seek out older men, more mature men in the (subconscious) hope that they have already fixed the things about themselves that young men haven’t had the opportunity or the time to fix.
I think part of my case here is that you often hear young women say “I don’t like boys my age. They’re so immature.” But you never hear young man say that.
On the flip side, you often hear young men say that they’re still in love with an ex-girlfriend, even if they haven’t been in contact with that woman for a very long time. But you never hear young women say that.
I know that in my life, I feel incredibly guilty about past relationships. And I wish I could go back and fix them. I wish I could call up my exes and apologize to them, but I know that doesn’t fix the things I did.
And I know that those exes don’t think about me in the same way, even if they also hurt me. I know they don’t feel an overriding guilt, and if they see something in their day-to-day life that reminds them of me, it doesn’t affect them in the same heartbreaking and nostalgic way that it does me. If I had to guess, at best they tell themselves to be strong and move on. And it’s that thought process that leads them to try to find someone who is different and hopefully better than me, while I find myself stuck in a loop of wanting someone similar to my exes.

It's possible to do things that hurt other people and that you regret but also aren't prosecutable or evil
