I've never told a lie

And that makes me a liar

But recently the flames are getting out of control.

Here’s the truth though. You don’t miss people constantly. Are they stuck in your subconscious somewhere? Maybe. But as much as you say you think of them all day and everyday, you don’t. you can’t.

You do, however, miss people in pieces. You miss them when your song comes on. You miss them when you think of an inside joke and have no one to share it with anymore. You miss them when you catch a reflection on someone’s face that looks just like them. You miss people when you are up at 2 am and their promise to stay is all you can think about. Or when you look through old photographs and laugh about your antics with some friends.

I often find myself reminiscing

Missing people from my past

What was so important then

Seems so irrelevant now

I always wonder what could have been

What would have happened if we stayed friends

Would we have drifted apart anyways with time

Or would we still be going strong

It’s weird to think that someone who was once such a big part of your life

Is now someone who barely ever crosses your mind

But when I reminisce and think of these past friendships

It brings me both comfort and pain

Comfort - knowing the things that have happened lead me to the friends I have now
