Event 01: The Bonfire.
INVOLVED: Skylar Gray, Alex Verene, & Isaiah Allen. TIME FRAME: Saturday, May 17, 2014. LOCATION: Beach. SUMMARY: The group’s bonfire.
Isaiah walked up to the bonfire, looking around slowly, running a hand down his face before he turned to gaze out at the water as it crashed against the sand.
Skylar looked up as she heard someone approaching. Her shift had ended a little while ago, so instead of going back to her house she decided to go straight to the bonfire that was rumored to be held down at the beach. She looked up from the flames when she heard someone approaching. "Hi," she smiled at the boy. She thought she might've seen him around before but couldn't be too sure.
Isaiah moved his gaze from the water to the young woman as she spoke. "Hey." He smiled softly at her, moving a bit closer. "Isaiah." He extended his hand.
"Skylar," Skylar said, standing up to meet his hand shake. "You can have a seat," she said, gesturing to the empty spot next to her. "I think we might be a little early."
Isaiah nodded slowly, shaking her hand. "Nice to meet you Skylar." He hummed as he sat, looking around with a small chuckle. "Looks that way, doesn't it?" He shook his head with a small smirk as he turned his gaze to the fire, stretching his hands to it. "I guess we're the squares for being early."
"Squares?" Skylar scoffed. "Isaiah, you and I are fashionably earlier." Skylar looked around before she spoke again, "I wish whoever set this up had at least left s'mores."
Isaiah snorted softly, looking back at Skylar, taking her in. "Fashionably early." He repeated with a nod and a small smile. He listened to her, glancing around for a moment before he spotted it and pointed. "Isn't that a table of snacks and stuff over there?" He asked.
"It's not a bad thing to shoot for," Skylar shrugged. She was almost never on time herself, so this was rare for her. Her eyes got wide when she realized the table of snacks. "I thought that it was left over from a birthday party or something, let's go," she said, standing up before waiting for him to respond.
Isaiah looked at her, shrugging. "It's not, not at all." He hummed out thinking it over for a moment before he looked back at the table, sucking his bottom lip into his mouth. "I don't think so." He chuckled eyeing the bags of chicks and alcoholic drinks before he stood up, looking down at her.
"Wassup!" Alex said loudly walking up to everyone else around the bonfire. "I'm ready for the booty and the booze!" he cheered loudly laughing at himself. Alex pulled his sagging cargos up as he looked towards the food. "Oh yeah, food. This shit live as fuck" he said moving towards it.
Isaiah turned to look over at the other male as he walked over loudly. Isaiah eyed him curiously shaking his head, a small chuckle leaving his lips. "Wow." He breathed.
"Aye!" Alex yelled "a nigga 'bout to eat good" he said as he grabbed a plate pilling various things onto it as he ate. "Been waiting all day to fine me some a-" he mumbled with food in his mouth before he noticed Isaiah. "Aye man, wassup bruh?" he said remembering him.
Isaiah looked at Alex, taking in his demeanor and snorted, balling his first and putting it to his mouth to mask his laughing, before he sobered up and smiled a bit. "Hey..." He sent the man a short wave.
Skylar laughed at the other boy who had joined the party, "I like the way you think." She went over to the table adding a few of everything to her plate.
Isaiah looked at Skylar with a small smirk as he walked over to the table as well. He looked over the various items before he grabbed a plate for piled some chips and dip onto it.
"Those peach rings are so tempting," Skylar sighed, thinking back to a few nights ago.
Isaiah dipped a chip and bit into it before he laughed. "I don't think one or two will kill you." He said around his mouthful.
"Hey I know you!" Alex said to Isaiah "and you too" he told Skylar. Alex continued to pile good into his plate before he grabbed a beer off the table smirking to himself.
Isaiah nodded at Alex with a small smirk. "I wouldn't say know exactly... but yeah." He said as he ate another chip and grabbed a can of soda.
Skylar added another hand full of the rings to her plate. “Oh?" Skylar asked. She knew a lot of people around here, but she hadn't seen him around before, which made her feel even worse that he knew her,
Isaiah glanced at Skylar as he sat his plate down on the table to crack open his can of soda, taking it to his lips and sipping it.
"I see both y'all" Alex said nodding as he moved to leave the table. "Y'all seem like cool peeps" he called back as he sat by some other women off to the side. He smirked as he squeezed between both woman and they accepted him in immediately.
Skylar moved over to make room for Alex. "I'm glad to hear I'm a good peep," she giggled.
Isaiah sat his soda down and looked at Alex as he picked his plate back up, looking over at Skylar, with a chuckle. "Ditto." He hummed before he popped another chip into his mouth, grabbing his soda, moving to sit.
"So," Skylar started, sitting back down next to Isaiah, "are you guys from around here?"
Alex sat back against the women chuckling as the squeezed at his muscles. He smirked at the blonde beside him as she flirted a little. He propped his foot up on the brunettes lap nuzzling into the blondes boobs with his head getting comfortable. "I know they got s'mores" he called out around him.
Isaiah shook his head at Skylar. "Nope, I'm from Los Angeles." He said honestly. "How about yourself?" He asked, before he looked at Alex. "Probably." He pointed back over to the table.
"Cool cool" Alex nodded looking up at the blonde as she caressed him. "I'm from hot Lanta" he smiled at Skylar. "You beautiful?" he asked her winking.
Isaiah looked over at Alex, watching him and the girls, shaking his head, remember when he used to be like that, before he looked back to Skylar, waiting her answer.
"I'm from California, too," Skylar replied, happy to find someone else like her. "Hot Lanta?" She asked with a raised eyebrow. "What brings you here?"
Isaiah smiled at Skylar. "Really? What part?" He asked curiously. He looked at Alex as well, smirking. "I haven’t heard that in years." He looked back to Skylar. "Summer vacation."
"Hot ass Atlanta" Alex chuckled as one of the women feed him. "These!" he said grouping the brunette’s thigh as he squeezed the blonde girls boob. He chuckled when she didn't stop him and laughed out loud as she blushed bashfully. "Booze and booty" he repeated raising his beer to them.
Isaiah glanced over at Alex as he touched the women and squinted slightly, shaking his head.
"San Francisco," Skylar smiled. She was almost jealous of him; he knew when he was getting back. She rolled her eyes playfully at Alex who seemed to be enjoying the booze part a little too much. "That's a good enough answer for me."
Isaiah chuckled softly, nodding. "Good ol' San Fran." He smirked. "Yeah... I love the vibe Miami has." He said with a small shrug as he sipped his soda before he wiggled the bottom of the can into the sand and sat his plate in his lap, lifting his camera from around his neck to take a picture of the fire.
"It really is something," Skylar smiled, looking out into the ocean.
Isaiah lowered his camera and looked at Skylar, following her gaze to the beautiful water, before he trailed it back to her. "What brings you here? Vacation?" He asked.
Alex sat back again relaxing as he guzzled his beer. "You like photography! I like that. Ansel Adams was the God of photography" he said looking around them.
Isaiah nodded over at Alex with a slight look of shock spreading across his features. "You know who Ansel Adams is?" He asked impressed.
"Needed a break," Skylar said simply, not wanting to go into the actual details of how she ended up here.
Isaiah looked at Skylar, nodding understandingly. "I get it." He chuckled softly before he lifted his camera again, pointing it at her. "Can I?"
"Yeah" Alex shrugged shaking his head slightly at Isaiah. "His work is amazing still today" he said licking his lips. "But Annie Leibovitz work is who's I favor the most....I know what your think but she just adds a touch of something extra" he said talking with hands. "That just makes the photos....I don't out of this World".
Isaiah stared at Alex, shocked. "Wow." He chuckled softly, mumbling, "looks can be deceiving," before he added louder. "Annie Leibovitz is amazing, but I definitely prefer Dorothea Lange."
Skylar fussed over her hair before giving Isaiah the go to take her photo.
Isaiah smiled at Skylar with a small nod before he focused the camera, leaning back a little to snap a photo of her.
"Touché there" Alex nodded at Isaiah. Alex gestured for one of the girls to her him another beer and they did. He chuckled as the blonde whispered things into his ear.
Isaiah chuckled softly at Alex. "I love the naturalism of Lange's photography; everything is captured in the moment, no glitz, no glam."
"Can I see?" Skylar asked, scooting closer to Isaiah.
Isaiah nodded as he lowered his camera, clicking a few buttons to bring the photo up, showing Skylar.
Skylar studied the photo critically. She was very particular about photos taken of her, either by herself or others. "I approve," she smiled.
Isaiah smiled at Skylar as he watched her analyze the photo. When she approved it, he chuckled softly, asking, "do you mind if I upload it onto my website?"
Alex nodded as he reached for his new beer. He scooted over to allow the girl to sit again. He continued to socialize with them swapping various pick-up lines among the three.
Isaiah looked over at Alex, watching him interact with the girls before he lowered his camera, allowing it to hang from his neck again, picking his plate back up, munching on a few more chips.
Skylar sat back down, wrapping her jacket tighter around her as it got darker.
Isaiah watched Skylar hug her jacket close. "Cold?" He asked softly.
Skylar shrugged, "noting I can't handle. It probably would've helped to wear pants though."
Alex smirked "catch y'all cool peeps later 'aight" he said. He said chucking the deuce to Isaiah and Skylar as he grabbed the two women hands. They all walked off together.
"Have fun!" Skylar called after Alex and the two girls hanging off either arm.
Isaiah nodded slowly, before he glanced down at her bare legs. "Ah, yeah..." He said softly, looking up as Alex walked off with the two women. He waved him off, shaking his head before he pulled off his hoodie, gently draping it over Skylar's legs.
"thanks," Skylar smiled. "So do you wanna like get out of here or something? I'm not saying follow in Alex's footsteps, but we could always go somewhere quieter."
Isaiah smiled at Skylar, listening with a small nod. "Sure." He said as he sat his plate aside and stood, extending a hand to help her up. "We can go or do whatever you want."
Skylar stood up, sliding her arms through the hoodie. She hadn't planned this far, but she was good at winging things. "We can..." She started, thinking out loud, "I can show you a really cool restaurant and I'm not just saying that because I work at it."
Isaiah watched Skylar as she slid into the hoodie and he smiled, nodding. "Sounds like a plan to me." He chuckled a bit. "Sure you’re not." He smirked. "Lead the way."
Skylar nudged him playfully. "it's a cool place okay!" She led the way to her work, which wasn't too far from the bonfire. She smiled at two of the girls behind the counter and sat down on one of the bar stools. "This is Isaiah, a guy I just met on the beach," she said, introducing him before they started in on the interrogating.
Isaiah snorted softly, following Skylar to the restaurant. "Mhmmmm." He hummed playfully. When they entered the joint he looked around slowly, sitting down on the bar stool beside her, looking up at her friends with a smile and a wave. "Hey."
"I think I'm just gonna have a shake," Skylar commented while scanning the menu even though she had already memorized it.
Isaiah picked up a menu, looking it over. "Can I have the seasoned fries and a vanilla shake?" He asked.
"Coming right up," Skylar smiled, taking their menus and walking into the kitchen to give the chef their orders. She brought out either the two shakes. "The fries will be out soon."
Isaiah smiled at Skylar watching as she took the menus and headed to the back. He sat there looking around, folding his arms casually, leaning against the counter waiting for her to return, and when she did with their shakes he sat up straight, taking his with a small smile. "Thank you." He hummed as he took the straw, slurping it up.
"No problem," Skylar said, placing a straw in both of their drinks. "Enjoy," she smiled, before taking a sip of hers.
Isaiah sipped his shake, gazing at Skylar before he asked. "How old are you?"
"I turn 23 in July, what about you?" Skylar said with a smile.
Isaiah nodded slowly. "Just turned twenty-two in march." He smiled a bit.
"Awww a baby," Skylar teased, even if she was only a little older.
Isaiah chuckled softly, shaking his head. "Yeah, but this baby could still take you down." He chuckled flexing his muscles, showing off his strong biceps and the tattoo of his daughter’s name.
"I'd like to see you try," Skylar teased, flexing her own muscles, which were much smaller in comparison. "Oh my gosh, don't tell me you have a girls' name tattooed on you. I don't want to sound like a grandma but don't get a girl's named tattooed on you. We're not as good as we say, and you usually regret it."
Isaiah snorted as he watched her flex her small muscles. "Alright, I see you. Somebody works out." He smirked, before he looked down at his tattoo, laughing. "Isabella... that's my daughter."
"Daughter?" Skylar asked, not even trying to hide her surprise. "Is she here with you in Miami?"
"Mhmmm." Isaiah nodded, sipping his shake some more. "Oh, no, no. She's back in LA with her mother.
"Why aren't you with the mother? If you don't mind me asking." Skylar was curious to learn more about the mystery woman.
Isaiah shrugged his shoulders. "We were never really dating, to be honest. Isabella wasn't exactly planned. We tried to make it work, but we just... weren't meant to be." He shrugged again, sipping his shake slowly, thinking to himself for a moment before he looked at Skylar again. "We're still friends though. When she moved out she took Isabella with her, but I see her whenever I want."
Skylar nodded as Isaiah told her more about what went on with Isabella and her mother. She understood, things didn't always work out. At least he was still around for his daughter, instead of just leaving like young parents were known to do. "Is she going to come visit while you're down here?"
Isaiah licked his lips, before he sucked his bottom lip into his mouth. "I don't know. I'll have to see. I'd have to go back and get her or Luna would have to bring her."
"You should have them both come down! I bet they would love it here," Skylar said encouragingly. She was always a fan of meeting new people.
Isaiah chuckled with nod. "I'll call Luna tomorrow and see. I don't think she'd be able to stay long if she does come down."
"That's alright, even a little time here is better than no time," Skylar smiled.
Isaiah nodded with a smile. "That's true. I'll definitely call her and see what she says." He smirked.
Skylar was about to respond but she noticed Isaiah's fries being brought over to them, and immediately found herself hungry again. "Mind if I?" She smiled, picking up a fork.
Isaiah looked over as his fries were brought out and he smiled, nodding at Skylar. "Help yourself." He chuckled as he picked up a fork as well, digging into the fries.
