what did you think of the new vision & scarlet witch series so far is vision and Wanda back again as a couple officially or no?
As a stand-alone comic, similar to What If? #38, I loved it and found it very sweet and endearing. It also reminded me of the Doctor Who episode, The Husbands of River Song, which is one of my favorites!
But, do I think they're back together? Judging from the content of the comic... no. I think that was very much Orlando saying 'they could be happy together, even though I'm not putting them together right now'. I'm okay with that. If nothing else, it's very affirming to what I think has been true of their characterization, which is that they love each other and have never really stopped loving each other. I like that Orlando sort of nodded to the transient nature of comic book relationships. These characters are constantly changing, nothing is really permanent if you're not Reed and Sue or Lois and Clark. So, I do wonder if he knows he's not going to have Wanda under his wing, or if she's going to get carried off to do something else in a short time, and he doesn't want to have them go the way of Wanda's last relationship.
My only gripe is I'm not sure I like the emphasis that this version of Vision is so emotional and that's something different (and maybe better, that fixes everything!) with their relationship. Pre-Byrne Vision might have thought he was emotionless, but he was very emotional. He cried, he raged, he loved, he felt and showed the full gamut of emotion. Wanda, above all other people, should know that. She never doubted his capacity for emotion. So it stings, a bit, having her be the mouthpiece for this idea that this version of Vision is more emotional. I think it would have served the comic just as well to point out that this is the most emotional she's seen Vision since he was last that specific shade. Now, all that being said, they still share panel time on the mainline Avengers comic, so it can still happen there. For all I know that's actually why they didn't officially hook up here, because the other writer still is working on their relationship there and maybe Orlando wasn't sure how the timing would work out.
New lineup and new creative team! Welcome to Jed MacKay and CF Villa!
I'm going absolutely bonkers trying to find this One vision comic and I thought maybe you'd know it? just throwing my line out there.
It's super short and is more like a introspective thing about his relationship to his powers (I think). it's rendered in this really nice kinda realistic style.
him and the others avengers are rescuing people after a building collapse. he phases through the rumble, then phases through people he finds to kinda pick them up and crawl to safety. the whole thing is him trying to calm down a kid he's got tucked away by talking about his powers, all while using torn pieces of his cape to do like, field triage on other survivors he finds that he has to come back for later.
if you know it, incredible. if not, thanks for reading this quick word vomit. 🙇♂️💖
I'm sorry I didn't see this sooner! I'm more or less on hiatus and I guess the tumblr mobile app just stopped telling me if I got asks? There's a couple from this last May I'm just seeing now...
Anyway, you are talking about Paolo Rivera's short story in Marvel v1 #2, "The Vision: Unphased", I believe. In my opinion probably the best Vision story written since Avengers: Disassembled.

THE VISION & THE SCARLET WITCH in MARVEL SNAP's collaboration with Martin Garrax & JVKE.
After Agatha: Coven of Chaos, a second WandaVision spin-off series focusing on Paul Bettany’s Vision is in the works at Marvel Studios for Disney+, according to Deadline.
Titled Vision Quest, the potential series, which is opening a writers room next week, will be about The Vision (Bettany) trying to regain his memory and humanity. While the focus is on Vision, word is there is a possibility for Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) to appear, which would make sense given how interconnected the two characters’ stories are in the MCU.
Like with the other WandaVision spinoff, the greenlighted Agatha Harkness series headlined by Kathryn Hahn, Vision Quest is overseen by WandaVision creator, writer and executive producer Jac Schaeffer. Reps for Marvel Studios and Bettany declined comment.
I quite liked Steve Orlando's take on Wanda. I thought she was passionate but in control, kind but not naive, weighted with her past but not crushed by it. She actually reminded me quite a bit of my favorite Wanda, Kurt Busiek's Avengers take on her.
His Marvel Infinity Comic was actually correct lore-wise, which is a great bonus.
And I was a HUGE fan of how he finished Darkhold Omega--I've said before that when it comes to making lasting changes to characters in comics it only works if you can do something big & impressive & memorable, otherwise it gets 'written over by the common take on the character. That is, telling stories about Chthon being a threat to Wanda will always be vogue, but if you sort of wiggle the context around so that Wanda has some inherent agency to the situation, I think you'll tempt other writers who are less interested in the character to do better by her.
(Plus fan of Chthon That Fucks. More memorable/unique design than Clayface or not-Chthulu.)
The concept of Wanda running a magic shop for people in trouble. is delightful. Real Tarot Cafe vibes is what I'm hoping for.
