Strange Discrepancies in Kingdom Hearts Disney Levels compared to the Original Films:
**Before I go into them, I want to make it clear that I love the Kingdom Hearts storylines, and I love how most of the Disney stories were changed to fit Kingdom Hearts. I just thought it was interesting how the stories have changed to fit into the plot. I also don't want to focus too hard on stuff like "Sora shows up", or "Organization XIII shows up", because like, duh.
WIP: STILL ADDING NEW WORLDS
Alice in Wonderland/Wonderland
One of the least changed stories due to how short it is. It is implied that this takes place during the Courthouse scene from the original film, except now Alice is on trial for "attempting to steal the Queen's heart" and not simply tricking her.
We don't see much of this world, but it can be assumed that the rest of the movie's plot up until the trial would've played out the same as normal, and it would've still ended with Alice returning home and believing it was all a dream.
Hercules/Olympus Coliseum/Olympus
The plot of Hercules is drawn out over the course of all three games.
In Kingdom Hearts 1, it appears that Hercules is already strong and has been trained by Phil, but hasn't started helping Thebes yet. He also already knows Hades.
Hades appears multiple times to commit villainous acts, which Hercules and Sora thwart multiple times before they finally "defeat him" for the time being.
In Kingdom Hearts 2, it is revealed that Hades has been sending his monsters to attack Hercules. This implies he has only recently been seen as a hero by Thebes.
Oddly enough, the ending of Hercules occurs here. Megara is kidnapped and thrown into the River Styx, where she will die unless Hercules saves her, and he goes in after her, and restores his Godhood. It is not the exact same context as the original film, as in that one, Meg literally did die and Hercules saved her soul, as opposed to a still-living Meg being thrown in, but the general plot is still the same.
Later in Kingdom Hearts 3, Hades begins enacting his original plan from the film, which is to wait for the planets to align and to take over Mount Olympus. Now he unleashes the Titans, and the ending battle between Hercules and Hades takes place.
So yeah, really weird, the movie is sorta broken into pieces and put in random games, but oh well. Same general plot.
This appears to take place during the "Strangers Like Me" montage from the original film. Jane is trying to show slides to Tarzan to teach him more about human society.
The biggest change is that Clayton is revealed as villainous before his big betrayal in the movie plot. His Heartless is defeated before he can take any Gorillas or kill Kerchak. Essentially, this means not only that Kerchak survives, but that Tarzan never really got the chance to even attempt to leave the island with Jane, since Clayton is defeated basically halfway through the film, lmao.
This occurs right after Aladdin gets the lamp; however, in this story, the Heartless are everywhere, and Jafar is implied to have either killed or just "gotten rid of" the Sultan and taken over Agrabah, and sent Jasmine into hiding.
Aladdin gets so fucked over with his wishes, it's lowkey very funny. He doesn't do the Ali Ababwa stuff at all in this timeline, since the entire plot about him wanting to woo Jasmine and impress her is completely missing in favour of dealing with the evil bad guys destroying Agrabah. Lol.
Aladdin stupidly wastes his first wish on getting rid of some Heartless that Sora could've easily taken care of. He uses his second wish to save Jasmine, which is then instantly undone because she gets kidnapped anyway.
After defeating Jafar with Sora, Aladdin uses his last wish to free the Genie with like, zero convincing. Like, okay man, I'm sure Sora could've used three wishes right about now, you could've saved that final wish, but alright dude.
Anyway, then a now-free Genie goes with Sora to help find Jasmine, who is now with the other Princesses of Heart.
One of the few worlds that completely ignores the plot of the original movie in favour of Kingdom Hearts stuff lmao.
The Little Mermaid/Atlantica
An odd case, as this level in Kingdom Hearts 1, is actually a prequel and takes place before the events of The Little Mermaid. Which is funny because it means Ursula pulled this bullshit before, and tried to usurp the throne, and yet Ariel still trusts her enough to return for the movie lmao.
So yeah, in Kingdom Hearts 2, half of it is just Sora and Ariel singing together, and then a very rushed plot summary of The Little Mermaid.
The ending is changed; now Ariel and Vanessa/Ursula just fight instantly, and there is no wedding scene. Sora helps defeat Ursula and kill her.
We then get the ending scene where a mermaid-Ariel, reunites with Eric, but this time Triton does not turn Ariel into a human, and just watches from a distance. "Oh, if only there was something I could do to help!" Asshole.
In the credits, we see a human-Ariel marrying Eric, which implies Triton did eventually transform her, but it wasn't shown.
The Nightmare Before Christmas/Halloweentown
Kingdom Hearts 1 is a prequel as well, and focuses solely on Jack doing investigations into the Heartless, before joining Sora for a fun sidequest.
Oogie Boogie shows up to do evil shit before being defeated and killed.
In Kingdom Hearts 2, Sora arrives after Jack has already begun appropriating Christmas and retheming Halloweentown. Oogie Boogie is then brought back to life to do more of his bullshit shenanigans.
Like in the original film, Jack returns Halloweentown to normal and becomes involved with Sally. Again, same basic premise as the films, plus Sora and Heartless.
Like Alice in Wonderland, we don't spend much time here, and it seems hardly changed.
It seems pretty much implied that the events of Peter Pan occurred as usual, up until Captain Hook captured Wendy. Then Kingdom Hearts 1 happens.
Beauty and The Beast/Hollow Bastion/Beast's Castle
There is no dedicated Beauty and the Beast level in Kingdom Hearts 1, but we do meet Belle and Beast in Hollow Bastion. An interesting thing to note is that Belle is in her yellow ball gown, which suggests she was kidnapped either during the ballroom dance or while getting ready for it. Belle and the Beast's closeness also implies this.
In Kingdom Hearts 2, the first visit is entirely new to the story, as the servants are locked up by a "possessed" Beast, and Belle hides in her room. After Sora deals with this, things return to normal.
By the second visit, Belle and Beast are now doing the ballroom dance. It seems like perhaps after reconciling, they wanted to resume the dance that was interrupted a year ago by the events of Kingdom Hearts 1.
Now here's where I get really, iffy with the timeline because like... In the original film, the ballroom scene took place on the last night of the Beast's curse, and if he did not break it by that night, he would remain a Beast forever. It is now a year later, so the Beast has missed his deadline by a whole ass year. You could argue that perhaps in Kingdom Hearts, he just embraces that he's a Beast forever, and canonically stays this way, but... he is shown to become a human in the credits... okay?
Anyway, after the Sora stuff, Beast finally musters up the courage to ask Belle if she'd like to stay with him, and she says yes. To me, this reads as a confession of love, but he doesn't transform, so whatever. Technically, this scene kinda happens in the movie, except that she said yes, then instantly started thinking about her father, and he let her go save him. Here, Belle says yes, zero hesitation, and that's how it ends. So, is her father just dead? Does Gaston ever show up and storm the castle? How does the Beast turn back into a human? Even ignoring the deadline for a moment, because maybe the dance from a year ago wasn't the same dance from the movie, but like... Was Belle saying to him, all blushing and flustered, "Yes, I'll stay here with you forever", not an admission of love? Why didn't he transform then and there? Who knows?
Anyway, Belle decides to stay, and we see the Beast eventually return to being a human. What happened to Maurice or Gaston, we never find out, lol.
