Juvion blamed Thon. The Captain was the taller of the two by a bit, so clearly, his presence what what tipped off the dragon. Granted, it could also have had something to do with them not having cover or really any method of sneaking around that a dragon wouldnât see. He was beginning to suspect that perhaps they should have thought this through better, when the dragon descended with a roared warning.
Thon turned to him with a look on his face that said something along the lines of, holy fuck a dragon, and Juvion had to agree, so he nodded to the Captain as if to say, yup, that it is, and weâre screwed but, he gave a shrug, we might as well go out swinging.
He eyed the dragon upâand upâand upâand down, gods they were huge beings⌠Speaking in the politest tone he could manage, he said, âWeâll just get out of your hair then. If you had any hair. Which you donât⌠weâll get out of your scales.â With that eloquent speech delivered, he saluted to the dragon and turned to leave, watching warily for flames from the corner of his eye.
Masla growled lowly in her throat as her eyes swept over the two legged beings who had dared to enter her domain. Were they really so stupid that they thought they would be able to walk in unnoticed. Or perhaps they had ulterior motives. Whatever the situation may be she would be on her guard.
As the creature spoke she narrowed her eyes. She did not know whether to laugh or to simply scorn at the suggestion the creature had made. With one powerful flap of her wings she was airborne and her jaws were wide open as she let loose a stream of fire that encircled the two of them trapping them in the small clearing.
Masla closed her mouth with a sharp click, as her dagger like teeth connected, and the fire stopped. The circle was obviously very accurate since she had been practicing for years. But now was not the time to admire her handy work. Stepping into the ring of fire, she raised her neck so that she stood poised as if to strike the two creatures in front of her.
âDo you take me for a fool?â She growled, the flames from the fire having no effect on her as she stood half outside and half inside the circle. âYou are the enemy and you will not be going anywhere until we benefit from you in some way.â The skin around her mouth pulled back into a dangerous and sharp toothed smile which only seemed to add to the ferocity and the danger the she-dragon possessed, but she did not care. The more scared they were the better it was for her.
âUntil you benefit from us? You Knights already tried that once. Held a good Mancer captive for ten years and tortured him for information. Though apparently yâall arenât any good at extracting information because you got nothing from him. What makes you think youâll get anything from us?â Well, the words were out of his mouth before he knew what he was saying. At least it was great for a final speech (speech being a loose term for what he had just said).
He shot Juvion another look this time saying sorry I definitely fucked it up and we could die now. Sometimes he cursed his own impulsiveness in situations such as this. It made it hard for him to keep his mouth in check. Though in his defense he didnât usually have to watch what he said. He was also used to being the most powerful creature in all circumstances so he definitely felt a bit lower than he was used to at the moment.
It was then that he remembered the canteen full of water at his side. If it came to it he could use that to fight while he pulled more water from the environment around him. Without moving he started feeling through the ground and plants, measuring how much water he would have to work with if he had to fight.
