Just another day }} Clarissa & Gavin
Early morning on a weekday, and Clarissa had holed herself up in the acoustic room at work. Everything always sounded so clear and crisp in that little room (which was technically the point), especially if Clarissa was having a bad day. No nonsense, just beats and breathing.
They were technically open, but Clarissa knew it wasn’t going to be a busy day and her manager wasn’t even there yet, so she was trying to pluck out the song she had heard in the car that morning - some pop fluff thing. The sound wasn’t exactly Clarissa’s style, but the lyrics and melody were nice enough, so she was hunched over her guitar trying to strip it down. Just as she tentatively hit the bridge, she noticed a pair of feet through the glass door.
“Shit,” she breathed, leaning her guitar against the wall and tugging the wrinkles out of her shirt before stepping back out to meet her customer. Thank God she had remembered to put on her lanyard. “Looking for something?”
It was honestly just his damn luck. The only thing he had left that resembled, even if it was far from the perfection of, his baby grand left at home, a stand up keyboard with the settings to almost imitate the sounds, had shit the bed, so to speak.
He had no idea what was wrong with the thing, he plugged it in, hear something between the lines of when you drop water onto a computer, then smelled smoke. He knew it was time for a new one. Nothing too expensive, he hoped. Bartending did not make enough money for him to splurge and hope to pay his rent on time.
Entering the music shop, a nice walk from his apartment, he raised a brow under his sunglasses before pulling them to rest atop his head. It was open, but not a soul to be seen. “Well, aren’t I just an asshole for coming in way too early?” He mumbled to himself, shrugging under his leather jacket as he began to look around. Admiring all the instruments and trying to talk himself out of buying a new electric guitar, his old one was probably on the way of his keyboard soon..
A voice took him from his thoughts and he rose to stand fully from where he was kneeling to look at a piano bench. “Hey! Sorry to be here so early. But my keyboard just crapped itself and I got a gig coming up.. So I am in a rush to practice.” He gave a charming smile to the store clerk, reading her lanyard. “Clarissaaa.” He sang it with a chuckle. “Reminds me of the old 90′s show.”
A drink or two
{ Ritardando; Maybe, just maybe he had drunk more than he should have. His every night whiskey, then another… and another… Tom, the barman and best friend, seemed to have encouraged him to take a couple more, you know, for the joy of the night and also had promised to take him home after the bar had closed. But Drew had gotten out earlier than expected, his performing time was done, and he got into the car apparently waiting for Tom. “I wonder if he’s cleanin’ the last cups… glasses… whatever…”
“I’m getting bored…” he mumbled sighing out. “Come ooooon! I wanna go home… Alright, alright, I’ll walk” And so Drew found himself wandering down the streets, tumbling on his own feet, humming and singing to the moon… not realizing he had gotten lost for a moment, not seeing where he turned on the streets.
“Oo-oh. I’m an alien, I’m a legal alien, I’m an englishman in new york –he sang–… Wait no, in Harmony, yes I’m in Harmony…. right?” By then he stopped, hands in his pockets as he looked around… “Where am I?”
Finally, he was free. No Crescendo tonight, although he could have used the money, but he took a meeting with potiental new band mates as a good reason to lose a shift. Gavin had spent the night with two men who seemed like good artists; a rare compliment, since he never met anyone who seemed to reach his caliber of musical brilliance. He could feel it, he was closer to the fame he craved, to the people screaming his name and his own music changing the world. The thought made him smirk a bit, the music blaring in his headphones merely bits and pieces of his still uncompleted piece that he had been working on for years. Humming to himself, he nearly collided with someone when he turned the corner, looking up from his iPod after he pulled it from his pocket. The man before him looked to be stumbling around and, from his occupation, he knew the man was drunk. Raising a brow, Gavin took the headphone from his ear to listen to the man drunkenly singing some song, then forgetting where he was. The man seemed familiar, probably someone from one of the bars Gavin often went to. "Hey man.. You okay?" He asked, taking both headphones off to give the man his attention. Though he was known for being a jerk, his job made him slightly more concerned for human safety, since he was often the one who had people stumbling around.

Send my muse a number and they’ll share:
A shameful habit.
An obvious secret.
A secret pertaining to their family.
A secret about their love life.
A secret my muse is keeping from yours.
A secret from when they were young.
A secret that could ruin their career.
A secret that could ruin a friendship.
A secret they’ve never told anyone.
The biggest mistake they’ve ever made.
The name of someone who knows most or all of their secrets.
Their worst fear.
Their deepest, darkest desire.

Any Practiced Catholic Would Cross Themselves Upon Entering
“So, which girl haven’t you slept with yet?”
The voice made Gavin look up from pouring another customer a rum and coke, snapping him from the sounds of several instruments going off in his head. A symphony for another song. His gaze left the ice filled glass to one of the club’s regulars, a man Gavin simply knew by the name of “Lou”; a kind old man who enjoyed the dancers enough to worry the bouncers and drank enough to keep Gavin in his apartment with his tab alone. This question was often asked every night, since Lou drank enough to forget previous conversation.
“Ah, Lou. You know a gentlemen doesn’t kiss and tell.” Gavin chuckled, taking the money and handing off the drink to the customer waiting on his rum and coke.
“Come on, Lad. I am sure you slept with most of them. I recall it!” Lou exclaimed, and Gavin had to practice some humility. While he was not the kindest individual, more so cocky and arrogant than unkind, at times, his lack of working in the field of his choice made him irritable. Especially when it came to loud drunken men asking about his sex life.
“Don’t make me cut you off, Lou.” He warned halfheartedly, the man before him grumbling before taking another drink. The threat of taking away liquor was always Gavin’s go to to keep Lou from asking who he slept with. Which, the answer was simple; Gavin had slept with about two or three girls in the burlesque club known as Crescendo.
His eyes roamed one of the new girls, and he thanked whatever God’s existed for this job. It wasn’t the fame and the stardom he wanted, not by far, but it paid the bills.. And the view was pretty nice. One cannot really complain at the sight of pretty woman dancing and winking at him.
He felt someone watching him and looked up, seeing someone at the bar, arm outstretched for a drink. A newcomer, not one of the regulars. He rushed to them and smiled with charm.
“Welcome to Crescendo! Sorry for the wait. What can I get ya?”

love wins ❤️💛💚💙💜
Gavin was trained, as a child in New York, to be of a more, as he called it, “Classy” form of music. Composing compositions via piano to rival those of Mozart, along with the violin, and percussion in a jazz band. And while he did enjoy such music, he found himself losing sight of it when introduced to the musical styling of alternative rock once he began to enter high school.
This new obsession soon led to many failed band attempts, for he went into this new world with the same cockiness and obsessive need for perfection that others had let slide in his life of the more classical music. It seemed the world of alternative rock does not care for his sense of entitlement due to the knowledge of his talent.
Despite no immediate and fulfilling success, Gavin is ever persistent, constantly writing his own music, a rare trait he is proud to have in this industry. One can typically find Gavin sitting in a coffee shop, going over a song he had been trying to perfect since high school.
One can hear this one line constantly sung;
All you sinners, stand up and sing hallelujah..

Meet GAVIN KAINE. He is TWENTY-FIVE and people mistake him for BRENDON URIE. He is currently a BARTENDER at CRESCENDO but plans to be a SINGER.

The Past
In the suburbs of New York City it isn’t uncommon to have one or two children who are phenomenal in each graduating class. Gavin was one of those, one of the extraordinaries who never realized how common they were until it came time to face the real world. While some excelled in academics, Gavin excelled in a slightly different field: music. He grew up playing piano, something his mom forced both of his older siblings to do, though he was the only one who stuck with it after the five years she required them to take. He picked up violin in orchestra, and decided to try his hand with percussion in his elementary school’s jazz band, continuing with both and going from the youngest child to play to first chair, eventually to dabbling in conducting as well. In his town, music was his domain, and no one contested it. His parents were proud, and summers were spent at Juilliard, or forming garage bands with anyone who had talent and time. Everything was great. Unfortunately it went to his head.
Though he was indispensable to the classical music programs he was in, he found himself slowly straying away from them, falling in love with alternative rock. At first he found a few people who wanted to form bands with him, but Gavin found himself constantly getting kicked out, or his bands dying before they could get anywhere. It never occurred to him that a large factor in it was that his feelings of superiority pushed people away, preventing people from wanting to work with him. He did keep trying, but by the time he graduated with his music production major, he was done. Gavin had spent a lot of time in composition and music theory classes, and though he wasn’t Mozart, he could write his own music. It became easier for him to work alone, alternative singer-songwriter style songs. He dabbled in guitar, but most of the pieces were performed on his piano, or by other musicians he hired to play with him. It was enough to keep him happy, and to get a few EPs out on iTunes, but he still didn’t have the record deal he was determined to get.
The Present
After college, one of the best his parents could send him to, Gavin found himself thirsting for more. He still wasn’t making money off his music, and it wasn’t fair for someone so talented to be so unknown. He was sick of New York, and though Los Angeles sounded nice, he preferred somewhere that had seasons. Settling for somewhere a little further north, he found himself in Harmony, California, with no job, money, or connections. It took him a year to set himself up, getting hired as a bartender so he wouldn’t have to take his parents hand outs. The burlesque club he worked at caused some people to look down on him, but it payed well enough, and he wasn’t about to turn down a lovely view. Gavin managed to get an apartment, finding it easy enough to scrape by, though he had to settle for an upright piano instead of the beloved baby grand he had at home. The one thing he didn’t have going for him was the music scene, but sporadic gigs here and there kept him going. A lucky break was bound to come eventually.
The Future
There are two things Gavin wants, not counting his piano from back home. He wants gigs, not opening acts at random bars, but concerts with fans screaming his name. And he also wants a band, though he won’t admit that. These days he’s just trying to get himself established as a musician of caliber, something he knows he deserves to be recognized as. He knows he’ll get noticed, he can almost taste the success. It’ll happen. Gavin won’t quit until it does.

Sure, we go to the bar to drink, and we drink to get drunk, but peel back that layer and there’s yet another: we get drunk to leak a little truth.
We get drunk so we can say things, often things we’ll want to be able to deny later.
- Richard Siken
