It’s obvious that Santos does not like Langdon, and that’s completely valid and understandable. (I mean, if somebody yelled at me like he yelled at her last season, I’d hold a grudge, too). And I don’t think it’s a hot take to say that her dislike of him is influencing the way she reacted to his apology. She’s extremely adamant that Langdon should “atone for his sins” by telling everyone the full extent of what he did (stealing meds from the hospital), getting fired, and getting put in jail. I’m not here to argue whether all of that is a valid consequence for his actions (I’m not a medical professional, I have no idea how that whole situation would go down irl). I just believe that Santos probably wouldn’t be as adamant about Langdon getting more severely punished if they didn’t have beef in season 1.

Like, if Langdon hadn’t been an asshole to her in the previous season and had just acted like a normal, professional, or even kind mentor to her, I don’t think she’d be as cold and cagey around him as she is now, even if she knew he was doing something illegal by stealing meds. I still think she would’ve reported him to Robby for the sake of patient safety and her obligations as a doctor, but I think she’d be a lot more hesitant and guilty about that decision. And if “nice” Langdon had come back after rehab, there’d probably still be tension and awkwardness, but more so out of guilt than anger, and I don’t think she’d be hammering the “taking accountability/facing consequences” part so hard.
