Silly of my eyes that all I make myself see Is just shapes of you changing week by week New, half, full, gone - such plain perceptions Like I perceive people with my blurred vision But people are bodies and souls with craters Rough at first, intriguing beauty when closer Journeying through the circle of life in a twirl Crescent or complete, shining like you, like a pretty girl Silly of my romantic ideals that cloud up the world Painting it pretty with fancy words and colours Forgetting that it's a place that's mostly dark and bleak That most people lose their voices even before they speak I only talk and write about you and your friends The sun and the stars and all in nature that I can sense But maybe I should talk of the things that you witness Every day, every night, all the ugliness, all the mess Silly of my selfish heart to only feel sympathy From the safety of my home where I have plenty Because even when you reflect the sun's brightest rays There is not much you can do from so far away I may hurt, I may bleed, but at least I have a voice I have hands, I have feet, and a mind to make a choice To shine like you and tell the stories of those who live with fear To be the best I can be, to be strong and be sincere Silly of my limited mind to completely box you in Thinking, sometimes, that it's just me on whom you're shining But what you do shows loud and clear that you are so much more You shine on all - the rich, the proud, the hurt, the dying, the poor You know that when the world gets dark, when the day is done Everybody just needs some rest, maybe even an illusion So you keep travelling around this wretched wicked world Seeing, shining, showing, healing, oh, you pretty pearl thislifemyday
