"Long time no see Captain."
"It has been awhile. That keeps happening doesnât it. Itâs nice to see you again though."
"Same as ever but much more dull without you around to talk to. Do you have enough free time for lunch? Iâll buy," Jack said in as tempting a voice as he could without sounding like he was hitting on Steve. Though he may have been a little bitâŚ
"For you I'll make some time because lunch sounds amazing and it's been much too long since we've been able to talk. Work will just have to deal for a while." Steve smiled trying not to sound too eager to join the other for a bite. He had missed the other more then he realized now that Jack was standing there.Â
"Long time no see Captain."
"It has been awhile. That keeps happening doesnât it. Itâs nice to see you again though."
"It seems like something must come up every time there's a small sliver of downtime, at least on my end. How have things been going for you in all this time?"

It did not go unnoticed by the Welshman, and he stopped, his fingers stilling on the rim of the glass, his eyes still on the American. Â Whether or not Ianto liked it, Steve Rogers was a valuable asset and one that would help greatly. Â Fewer people seemed to dare to step out of line with the two of them handing out the punishments. Â Ianto when he was younger would have winced at the thought of hurting anyone, but now? Â He did not care. Â He did not think twice about it. Â It was just another day at work to him.
Ianto lived for the fights that broke out in the bar. Â They were welcomed and he always enjoyed breaking them apart and ending them. Â Had since he was a teenager when it was either fight or get the crap kicked out of you so bad you ended up in the hospital. Â His eyes remained on his partner, watching the way he rubbed at the scar.Â
"Could have Doc look at that," he said thoughtfully. Â "Might be able to give you something for it. Â Canât have you losinâ your focus."
Previously tense muscles relaxed again when the ringing noise halted. The haunted look in his eyes faded slightly as he was able to push the memories away into the darkest corners of his mind again. He hated being so effected by noises, hated memories being triggered like that and the soldier had been trying to stop it without success. Between SHIELD and the war there were just sounds that he couldn't handle. Thankfully he'd never encountered them in Torchwood so far and he hoped it stayed that way. Most of all he didn't want to disappoint Ianto or Jack.Â
There was a time that this kind of work would have made the American sick, the thought of hurting people made him sick. Now though it was just work, in a ways giving back what the bullies had given him before the serum. Back then he couldn't fight back, wasn't even a challenge, now he stood a chance and with Ianto they were a pretty formidable team. Hurting people was just a job, one Ianto had perfected and Steve hoped to be considered an equal to the man one day.Â
Watching the crowd starting to shift restlessly in one area of the bar Steve kept his eyes on them, glancing at the Welshman for a second. "Maybe I'll have him look at it sometime. Don't like doctors much though, not that I don't trust Doc..." he shrugged slightly unsure how to explain he'd had enough of being poked and prodded. Trust didn't come easily to the man anymore. "I'll get it taken care of, Sir." Forcing himself to remove his hand from the scared flesh he nodded slightly towards the men he'd been looking at previously. "Think somethings going to go down over there?"

So Ianto had not at first been a fan of Steve Rogers, did not see the need for the super soldier and, if he was being honest, was jealous. He had been the shining star, the person to be. One who rose up through the ranks and made it to where he was. Then Jack came back from the States with Steve and for a good long while Ianto had flat out ignored the other man. Which was a bad thing, he was supposed to be the one showing him the ropes.
It had taken Steve actually saving his ass to get Ianto to start to warm up to the former American Super Soldier. Not that Ianto trusted many people, let alone was friendly with them. He may have been a front man, an enforcer who could charm people, but he hated interacting. Found it a tedious thing that he really hated to do.
He had been sitting in his regular seat, fingering the glass to the point where he had finally gotten it to ring in that high pitched noise most hated; when Steve came over. âGive it bout another fifteen maybe lessâŚâ He replied watching the others there. âSomething will set them off.â
When he had first joined the group Steve had tried to keep his head down. He hadn't wanted to upset any of the others in the group and unfortunately it seemed most already knew who he was and didn't take to him very well. For the first few weeks he'd just watched and learned routines, ranks, who was allowed into the bar who was not as he recovered from his ordeal with SHIELD. Even with his fast recovery rate it took time to gather his strength back, previous wounds healing and adding more scars to the collection.Â
The man who was to show him the ropes had been Ianto himself. But he hadn't seemed to like the American much so Steve tried to make his presence as little as possible, observing the well known enforcer. Slowly he had started working his way through the ranks, doing mundane things at first till he'd gained a better position. His chance to prove himself to the Welshman came when a fight had gotten particularly violent and he'd kept someone from killing the other. Though he seemed to have gained some respect Steve still tried to let the other have his space, anything to stay on the Welshman's good side.Â
Wincing slightly at the high pitch ring, memories stirring in the back of his mind Steve kept his gaze out at the bar. "Doesn't it always? Guess we'll be on clean up duty here soon, Sir. Should be fun like always," he said with slight sarcasm. One thing was for sure the fights here never seemed to be the same, some more deadly then others. He wondered what variety they'd get to break up tonight. Rubbing the back of his neck the solders palm scraped against a scar running down the far side of his neck, starting just below his jaw, all the way down to his shoulder.Â

Torchwood was one of the most feared places in all of Cardiff to be. Â No one went there without a damn good reason, and if they didnât they were thrown out. Â The cops knew it well, knew the place and hated it. Â Hated each person who frequented the bar, and each person associated with it. Â It was run by the family, the Mafia that had taken hold in Cardiff centuries earlier. Â The boss always seemed to have the same name. Â Jack Harkness. Â They figured it was a Dread Pirate Roberts sort of thing. Â It wasnât.
Ianto Jones had joined when he was sixteen, taken in after his father had, once again, broken his leg. Â His father did not mess with him when the tattoo, the honeycomb like letter T, appeared on his sonâs wrist. Â It was not his first tattoo, and it would not be his last. Â Much of his torso had some sort of ink on it. Â Designs Ianto himself had carefully drawn. Â Each one with a different meaning.
He may have started out a low man on the totem pole, but he rose through the ranks as he got older. Â His nearly emotionless mask came in handy, his ability to lie so easily, and how he could seem to get in anywhere he really was not supposed to be in. Â He was trained by the others. Â How to fight, how to shoot, how to defend. Â Ianto earned his keep.
Now, he was one of the top level enforcers in the Family, someone who spent most of his time in the bar, making sure everyone who was there was supposed to be there. Â His fingers tapped the glass in his hand, staring out over the bar. Â It was going to be one hell of a long night.
The 21st century was never a place a soldier from World War II would ever expect to find himself. A world filled with so much technology, greed and corruption is seemed at times. Â There was a time the man thought the world was worth fighting for, the people of the world worth protecting from disaster. Now though, that resolve had died 70 years ago swallowed by the ice and held hostage for the rest of time. No, he would never step foot back into America if he could help it, would never become their lap dog again.Â
The man previously known to most as Captain America had woken up in a world so drastically different then the one he'd been born into. It'd been a huge shock to try and take in but it would only get worse from there. SHIELD had found the frozen soldier but instead of letting him go they laid claim to him, saying he was theirs to do as they pleased. So began the tests, the experiments to test his limits with disregard to his physical or mental health. Pain was a constant companion, and every day he had begged to close his eyes that final time and leave this place. Unfortunately the serum and SHEILD would not allow that to happen. He was constantly monitored, tied up and kept half sedated.Â
Then one day a savior came, a man named Captain Jack Harkness. He was posing as a scientist visiting from across the seas to see the 'super soldier.' The man told the weakened prisoner that if he joined his group then he would free him from the prison and keep him away from SHIELD. Â The words 'yes' stumbled so fast out of his mouth it was almost garbled.Â
Now here he was a year later, a free man in Cardiff, part of a feared mafia gang and he honestly hadn't felt happier since he had woken up. Jack had indeed got him out of the SHIELD compound and integrated him into the group, leaving him to climb the ranks on his own and find his own place amongst the others. Now Steve Roger's found himself helping to keep the riff raff out of the bar and any other odd jobs that were required. He felt he owed Jack Harkness for freeing him from that hell and would do anything asked of him. Long gone was Captain America, a new man was born into Torchwood.Â
"The tension in here tonight is going to brew trouble," he said as he walked over to the man who was one of the best enforcers for the family, Ianto Jones. "How long till something or someone snaps you think?"Â
Secret's Out Now || Jack and Steve
Jack knew he had some explaining to do, he just wasnât looking forward to it. It wasnât because he didnât think Steve would believe the story of his immortality, oh heâd believe it, he had the proof right in front of his eyes⌠It was more that Jack was starting to like him, really like him. But that was where the trouble startedâŚ
Everything had been happening so fast, Steve was doing his best to keep the enemy off Jack while he manned the radio asking for backup. They were starting to get overwhelmed, but Jack was determined to save the men. They got the order to fall back but Jack stayed behind to make sure everyone else got out first. He thought Steve had gone too, but instead he had stayed with Jack, still protecting him. He just didnât see the gun, but Jack did, and he jumped in to take the bullet. He didnât want to lose the other man, not when they had been talking more, getting to know each other, becoming friends. Jack hoped there could be more, he was starting to fall for him⌠So he didnât think, he just did it. And he was shot insteadâŚfell to the groundâŚfocused on Steve there with himâŚand died.
Then of course, he came back, probably scaring the hell out of Steve. Once it was all over and they were safe once more, they both sat in silence, waiting for the other to say something. Who knew what the man thought of him nowâŚhe was a freak, an impossible thing. âSomething happened to me, a long time ago. IâŚI canât die,â Jack finally sighed. âEvery time I do, I just come right back.â
It seemed to happen so suddenly. One moment they had been fighting together amongst the others of their unit. Underestimating their opponents the fight started to turn against their favor so Steve ordered them to fall back enough to reach the radio. The Captain felt reassured when he heard Jack's timbre speaking, asking for desperately needed back up. Using his shield Steve covered the other man, protecting him and anyone else nearby that he could. Just as it seemed they were going to be in deeper trouble the final order to retreat was issued from Jack's mouth so the men scrambled to comply. Watching his men fall back except for his friend the soldier scrambled over to him to help.
The other Captain had become a close friend in the short time they had met, going out on a few missions here and there, strengthening the bond between them. Just as he heard a gun click next to him he saw his friend collapse to the ground, a bullet wound leaking his life's blood onto the ground. With an anguished cry filled with rage Steve took down the man responsible before he fell to his knees near Jack. "I'm so sorry...I am so so sorry."Â
Little did he expect to hear a sudden intake of air from the dead man, a cry escaping the startled Captain. "J-Jack?" he asked looking at the other in shock. Shaking his head he helped the other up so they could make their way back to base and out of dangerous territory. But as soon as they got there he looked at his friend still trying to process what had happened. The other had been dead and now he...wasn't. Jack had lead him to a quiet area, away from everyone else and Steve listened to him intently. "Wow..." he said for lack of anything else as the news sunk in. His friend was immortal. "So every time you die...you just come back? H-how long have you been alive for?"
+9 saw the scars
Ianto smiled a bit, shrugging his shoulders a bit. Â âI do hear it a lot, but youâre in luck, havenât heard it today. Â Should be able to help you more than easily.â Â He stood up, tugging a map from a drawer in the desk. Â âWhere were you trying to get to?â he asked moving around the desk.
"Well I'm glad not to be the hundredth person that's asked you today," he chuckled. "Things have definitely changed since I've last been on this side of the ocean. But I'd much appreciate your help." Steve stepped a little closer and looked at the map rubbing the back of his head. "I'm supposed to meet my unit at a warehouse near Cardiff Bay."
+9 saw the scars
Ianto looked up from the desk he was seated at. Â It was in the front of the Hub, where he would keep people from entering, or allow them access. Â He tilted his head at the stranger, ready to send the Hub into lockdown if need be. Â âCan I help you with something?â
Steve had entered the little shop by the bay hesitantly, unsure if it was still in use or not. With no windows the front of the shop gave of the air of little use and normally he would have just moved on but...well he needed a tourist office desperately. Seeing the well dressed young man behind the counter the soldier gave a small smile. "Hello, hope I'm not bothering you. I'm sorry I bet you hear this a lot but I've pulled the typical tourist act and gotten a bit lost."Â

"Um, hello there Sir. Can you possibly tell me where I am? I seem to have gotten a bit turned around."
Jack turned and smiled at the man who had spoken to him. He was cute, and polite. âYouâre in Cardiff. Whatâs your name, stranger?â
ââSomewhere elseâ? With directions like that, itâs no wonder youâre lost.â Jack chuckled. âIâm
Itâs nice to meet you Steve.â
Steve couldn't help but laugh again, "yes you do have a very good point there. Perhaps I need better directions so I am not lost. But maybe it wasn't such a bad thing."
It's a pleasure to meet you Captain Harkness," he saluted.Â
"Um, hello there Sir. Can you possibly tell me where I am? I seem to have gotten a bit turned around."
Jack turned and smiled at the man who had spoken to him. He was cute, and polite. âYouâre in Cardiff. Whatâs your name, stranger?â
"Cardiff? Wow I really did get lost this time. I think I was supposed to be somewhere else...things are a bit different then the last time I saw them." Steve shook his head, a nervous laugh escaping him. "Oh, my names Steve. Thanks for the help...um."

I just want to see how many people actually make the effort to do so.
Two Captains
Steve seemed to accept Jackâs answer without much question, and gave a similar answer, so he found himself wondering if the man had his own secrets. They seemed to have similar traits from what Jack could discern at this early stage in getting to know each other. He wanted to get to know the other man better, so when he suggested getting a drink, he happily accepted.
They chose a nice quiet bar. Well as quiet as a bar could get anyway. Jack took a chance by sitting in a bit of a secluded corner, not too far removed from the rest of the place, just enough so that they could have a conversation without shouting. Two Captains discussing strategies. He hoped thatâs what it would look like anyway. He smiled at Steve. âCan I get you a drink?â
There was something about the other man, one that made Steve want to know more about him. What made a man want to wage into a dangerous fight voluntarily and seem calm about it. Well calm for now, who knows how it would go when it was time to fight. For now he was going to enjoy the night with the other American, and maybe learn a little more about him.
Steve followed Jack into the corner, relived to find they weren't going to have to shout all night sitting here. Most of the men around the bar were from his squadron, enjoying a free night before a long battle ahead. A small smile tugged at the corner of his mouth as he watched his men before turning back to Jack, the smile actually growing. "Um, well thanks, that's mighty kind of ya."Â
70 Years too Late// Conmanjackharkness
There was this quite uncomfortable brief silence that lasted only for a moment or two and all the while his eyes, that had seen so much and lived even more, were observing the manâs figure. He just couldnât take them off of him for a strange reason; was it because he wanted to make sure that his eyes werenât fooling and he was actually Steve or because he had this charm all over his face that couldnât resist to? If there was only one reason that he wanted to relive that time was to see his Captain again and maybe tell him what he wanted to but never managed to do so.
A light chuckle, followed by lowering his head and smiling lightly, as if he was embarrassed to look into his eyes, but it was not that reason. Jack was glad that the other recognized him and that it was after all Steve Rogers. He gave him a nob and brought his glane up at his old friend âIt wasnât such a bad idea to take that walk, after allâ he joked âBut howâ-?â he was too surprised to finish his own sentance although he was certain that the young man would understand what he wanted to say
A wide grin spread across Steve's face as the realization this was really Jack sunk in. Here was a man he had never expected to see again, or if he did to be as old as the other thought he'd be. He'd never gotten a chance to tell the Captain good bye before he had been sent on the mission that led to his time in the ice. That was one thing he had sorely regretted, but now here he was sitting on the steps with him after all this time.Â
"No, I'd say it is a very good thing you took the walk," he chuckled shaking his head slightly. Of all the chances, against all odds they had run into each other in this big city. Steve let out a sigh as the Captain asked how. "I'm still trying to wrap my head around it but after I crashed that plane into the ice... I was preserved I guess you could say. For 70 years I was asleep till someone found the plane and got me out of there." He shuddered slightly running a hand through his hair as the memories of drowning and the freezing cold freezing him.Â

It wasnât just the face; those sprkling eyes; the golden hair that shocked the captain. His vise. The way he talked. But it couldnât have been Steve. It wasnât possible cause from as far as he culd remember, Jack was the immortal one and not the other. He closed his eyes trying to restrain himself from remembering all those memories he shared with that honorable man.
But he wasnât expecting those words. So, he looked like someone he knew. Funny thing. Those were exactly the words he had in mind. Jack chuckled, lowered his face and then lifted back up at the ther. âI was about to say the same thing. But i doubt that you are him. Time would probably be so unkind t him.â he sat net to him. He had to make sure âHe, if heâs still alive, will have all white hair ad his skin would be ruined by all these yearsâŚ.âthe captain chuckled as he tossed a glance at the American âThe war would have left its marks upon himâ he finally said with a more serious tone
This man surely looked like Jack and the resemblance was so striking it was bringing memories back to the forefront of his mind. Memories that were 70 years ago, but to Steve felt only like a few months ago. Part of him really wished it was Jack, that somehow the other had survived all these years, because then he wouldn't be alone. But that was partially a cruel thought, he wouldn't want the other to go through something like a time displacement.Â
Looking over at the man wearing the Captain's coat his brow furrowed as the other started to speak. Almost as if he had been in the war as well. "The war? Your too young to know about the war unless..." he paused taking in every detail of the man sitting next to him and comparing them to those from his memories and the sketches he had created. "Jack? Is it really you?" If this man wasn't who he had met back in the war, then he'd think he was crazy. But Steve had to know.Â
70 Years too Late// Conmanjackharkness
Working for Torchwood could be really tiring at times. It wasnât all about hunting down aliens; running to save other peopleâs lives or their own. It was something more and in one word; paperwork for a bunch of boring people and waiting till something the interesting would happen. So, the captain, when he was to bored of doing anything and had plenty of time ahead of him would just sit back in his office and drift into a trip through old memories from various eras of his long life. and that day was one of those.
Jack was alone in the base. The others had gone for a drink but Jack, even though they had invited him, preferred to remain in the Hub; to stay alert in case of anything. Normally it would be true, but that day it was nothing but an excuse. He had digged up a few photographs of him and a handsome american Captain. His face was brightened up with a smile. Captain steve Rogers. It must had been around seventy years since their last meeting He should be dead by now. Captain Jack gulped his drink with a nostalgic smile and stood up, wearing his coat and pulling the photo inside his pocket. He needed some air.
A nice walk around the bay and maybe the water tower was all that he needed. Jack let the cool light breeze hit his face. His eyes traveled around but his mind wandered in another place and time. But he got all awaken when his sight caught a man; a figure so familiar. He wasnât sure though. "quite the nice place to relax, isnât it?" he asked the man with a charming smile without quite noticing his characteristics.
Though most of his memories of the war were terrible, the memories of Jack were the few good ones he had. Something about the American had intrigued Steve from the very beginning and that curiosity had grown the more the two had talked. Steve remembered being able to talk about anything with the other, though most topics were about home and past battles. These few memories he had of the man were ones he kept close, sure he had only known the other for a short while but he had become as close a friend as Bucky had been.Â
Still lost in his thought the American accent surprised him, snapping him out of his reverie. Looking up his heart stopped as he looked into the impossible face. "Um, yes it really is," Steve replied trying to get over the shock. There was no way this was the same man, though everything was spot on right down to the coat. Maybe his mind was playing tricks on him...maybe it was someone related, or a complete stranger but it couldn't be Jack. "Sorry," he apologized as he tried to quit staring, "you look like someone I used to know."
