After *checks calendar* 6 years my library has finally gotten a copy of "Ring Shout" I was starting to think it would never happen. Anyway, like usual I have at this point completely forgotten how I heard of this book but thank god I did. The premise alone is what drew me in and I'm very delighted that its also well written I'll have to check out some of P. Djeli Clark's other work at some point. But now I'm just repeating myself.
I loved the inclusion of African American folklore. Few thing better than a book that send you straight to google. Even though I lacked some cultural context I was never confused about what was happening which I consider impressive. Its more action horror than than creepy horror, but it still managed to make me squirm here and there. Some of those description are.. vivid.
