Ragyo Kiryuin, CEO of the multinational clothing conglomerate REVOCS and leader of the COVERS movement. She is also the mother of the Student Council President of Honnouji Academy, Satsuki.
And here I am trying not only Lady Satsuki, but Mako and Ryuko as well!
Look at me messing with music!

Hi there! I'm someone who's edging my way into the voiceover field, and I was hoping to focus on audiobooks. But seeing that last post, I have to wonder- do authors prefer to record their books themselves? Do you usually think of hiring people for audiobooks? Is it something one doesn't go about doing anymore? Thanks for reading!
Many authors dream of reading their books themselves. But not everyoneās got the gift, or the stamina. Ā Thatās why we need gifted people like you!Ā
Authors donāt usually hire their own narrators, though; thatās done by the companies that produce the audiobooks. Ā Youād send your audition tapes to them.
The one exception is Audibleās recent ACX initiative, which gives authors, narrators and producers a chance to find each other. Ā Their excellent website tells you how it all works. Ā Itās a great place for narrators to break into the business; I know a lot of people who got work that way.
Neil Gaiman was one of the first to take advantage of this - not with his own books, but by creating and curating the Neil Gaiman Presents line of audiobooks. Ā I was lucky enough to be included in that, and just finished recording all three of my own āRiversideā novels. Ā It was an amazing experience.
Thanks for writing, and good luck with your work!
While Iām thinking of it, I should probably put this on tumblr. If you follow me on twitter, youāve already heard about it, though.
I did a voice-over workshop on Thursday night, run by Voice Coaches. At the end, we were divided into groups and given some ad copy to record, then we were told we could send it along to have our clips reviewed by the home office.
I got the call Friday afternoon.
I was told that I was āAbsoutely stellar, with wonderful diction and standalone toneā. Iād be well suited for childrenās commercials and sarcastic sounding voiceovers, as well as being recommended for childrenās cartoons.
They said that. About me.
I was also recommended for their training workshop, audition, and demo making.
I really want to do it.
Iāll need to scrape together the money, but if I have a demo and letters of recommendationā¦. I could actually start doing life and career things. Which, if you know me, is kind of a damn big deal. I might be able to pay my way into my transfer school.
So yeah! Voiceover acting is a thing! Iām not just whining when I ask for recording requests!
