romulusagnes replied to your post:Cerise hasn’t been sleeping lately because she’s...
Just tell her that it is very highly unlikely. It’s not like it’s happened before.
Not that we know of at least.
Thing is kids have overactive imaginations. Now that she knows that there's things that go bump in the night, it's not exactly easy to convince her they're not all out to get her.
Cerise hasn't been sleeping lately because she's convinced some monster is gonna come crashing in through her window.
Can't exactly tell her that's out of the realm of possibilities now.
"I’m afraid I’ve not seen anything of the sort yet, though I do hope it doesn’t mean their counterparts are running amok as well." If he wants to play this game, she can play it back. A couple years (give or take) a Catholic will do that for a girl. Add in a dash of demonic influence and suddenly, you can trash talk angels like nobody’s business. "I mean, considering their boss killed far more than those demons’ ever did."
"To be perfectly honest, I would always be more apt to distrust those forced to follow orders from an unknown. At least the motivations of individuals are easy to discern. It’s those collectives you’ve got to worry about." Not that she’s at all pissed with collectives at the moment. Not bitter about group decisions and actions at all. She huffs and raises her head a little higher, shoulders squared. "I would hate to further distract you from your duties and see your continued negligence turn some poor dear into roadkill."
Endangering children is one thing, but questioning the authority and motives of God is an entirely different matter. Miles reaches out and seizes the demon by the elbow and starts to drag her off away from the schoolyard. "Come on. Let's go for a walk. The other teachers can handle things for a while." A walk that will possibly end with her getting sent straight back to hell where she belongs.
He drags her off of school grounds and around the corner. There are still people on the street, kids and parents walking home from school, so he has to keep his voice down as he talks. "Give me one good reason I shouldn't send you straight back to hell. I'll not let you harm innocents. Not these children. They're mine." If she thinks she's going to corrupt their souls or steal them away then she's sadly mistaken.
The angel approaches before she can even bring him the girl and that’s almost worse because it gives her no time to brace herself. There’s an uncomfortable sizzling behind her glasses that she thinks may be one of her contacts evaporating under the force of the holy glow creeping into everything. Her sunglasses are doing very little to block it out and she can’t help but sneer in response.

The demon releases the child's hand before Erubey is forced to do anything drastic that could possibly blow his cover or alarm any humans standing nearby. That's good. And the child finds her mother without him having to leave the demon unsupervised. That is also good. He nods and smiles to Brienna as she leaves before turning his attention back to the abomination in front of him.
"Believe it or not, ma'am, there are other teachers stationed near the road to prevent that. I only have two eyes. As much as I want to look out for every kid here at every second there's only so much I can do. I'm only human." Except he's very obviously not. To the demon, at least. The rest of the general population is hopefully oblivious to the whole halo thing.
Miles crosses his arms over his chest as he stands off against "Princess Merida." Getting too confrontational will only alarm the children, but he's not about to let a demon get away with giving him lip. "I was a bit preoccupied trying to comfort a concerned mother. She's near frantic about what was on the news today. I didn't get a chance to watch it, but what about you? Apparently we've got demons walkin' among us and we never even knew. Happen to know anything about that?"

The revolution, it seems, is going to be televised, but Nessa fully intends to miss the broadcast. She’s sure she won’t end up out of the loop; there’s no doubt in her mind that every possible news source will be blowing up with the information of the existence of nonhumans as soon as it is revealed. In what she assumes will be her last few hours of peace and calm, she goes for a walk without a destination in mind, without anything at all in mind really, save for the faint whisperings of a familiar rage curling in the pit of her stomach.

Miles Mitchell, or rather, the angel inhabiting Miles Mitchell's form, has decided to pretend as if everything is perfectly normal. He's going to continue on living the life that was never his in the first place, pretend to be just as shocked as the rest of the population when news of nonhuman existence reaches the general public. He cannot afford to do anything else. He knows too well the danger he could put himself and his new family in if he acts as anything other than human, and putting his children at risk is not something he's willing to do.
Today a few concerned parents approach him to ask if he'd seen the news. He hadn't. He was in class. One mother is covering her child's ears while she talks about how terrifying the world just became. He tries to console her as best he can without saying he'll smite whatever demon so much as looks as her child.
He feels a hot breath of overpowering wrath roll down his spine and he turns to look. He hates having to turn to look. Humans just do not have nearly as many eyes as they need to. And there she is. The demon. Standing by the fence with a little girl in hand, red haired, blue skinned, gilled, clawed, teeth like razors. He excuses himself from the conversation and briefly rests his hand on the child's shoulder so that the boy will be on his way with a protective ward. Miles Mitchell straightens his posture and rolls his shoulders back as he approaches the demon by the fence, a gesture that would have flared out three separate sets of wings had he actually possessed them, but he knows he'll be glowing bright enough in this demon's view to be uncomfortable to look at.
"Ma'am, please step away from the child. You're not on the list of caregivers cleared to pick her up." His tone is firm and his face is tense and he's motioning for the girl to step away from her. "Come here, Brienna. You know you're not supposed to talk with strangers."
I’m going to be busy this weekend, so some time in the afternoon this week would be fine. My wheels aren’t fully turning until the afternoon, anyway. Late night occupation and all that.
Friday afternoon good then? Or are you one of those people who have their weekends start on Thursday?
Sounds doable.
You’d best prepare yourself for a young thing on a whole new level then.
When's a good time for you then? I'm obviously busy on weekdays until late afternoon. Weekends are good though. Anything outside of school hours, too.
It’s hard to not want to keep up. If you need any help getting the hell out of dodge, I can bring you some information.
Can’t promise that Staccia will be as enthusiastic as you, though. She is the young queen of stink eye.
I'll just need your opinions on a couple of things before I start worrying about anything like that.
And I promise I won't be put off by the stink eye. I'm immune to sour looks like that. Years of practice.
Got a real bad feeling things are gonna be going south for a whole lot of you guys soon.
Here's hoping things aren't gonna get any worse.

According to this guy that keeps calling me, I've won $2.5 million and a 2014 Mercedes Benz. All I have to do is give him my bank account details and I'll be filthy rich.

I meant the laptop. :’V
Oh! Nah it still works. The screen just won't hold itself up anymore. Couple pieces of tape fixed it well enough.
serosevsky replied to your post:My laptop decided to fall apart in the most...
Oh dear. Time for a replacement?
Nah, I'm just gonna have to fix it for the kid.
It was a class assignment. Everyone had to build me a solar system. You know. Wire and painted styrofoam balls and all that. If I can't fix it in time to grade it I'm just gonna give him an A on it.
My laptop decided to fall apart in the most disruptive way possible in the middle of class.
The hinge gave out and it fell open and knocked over one a model solar system one of the kids had left on my desk.
We're still looking for Mercury.
What a shame.
Homework in the first couple of weeks, though? Way to take advantage of the full on emergence method. I hope they don’t try to rebel and overthrow you before the decorative turkeys start popping up.
Nah, I bought 'em off with the new class pets. Couple of aquatic frogs to look at on their downtime and they're happy to get their work done.
Well. Not exactly happy. But I'm not expecting a rebellion anytime soon.

It’s a shame Neopia can’t be paused the in same way a journey of pitting cute creatures against each other can.
How are you feeling about school being back in? What do teachers even do during the summer? I always imagined there was some sort of great hibernation. :y
Yeah, her daily neopoint profit has really taken a nosedive since I'm making her do all her homework before she even touches the computer. I'm doing great with school being back in. Though I was teaching summer school before this so I didn't really get too huge of a break. I have actual homework to grade now though, so it keeps me busy in the evenings.
I love the start of the year because I always like to start off on the solar system unit.
Space is great.
