Welcome to my Ted talk about the rivals to the death setter trio.

Yes, that's their group name now, sshhhh.

So, I like the contrast between Sugawara and Oikawa, because there are similes:

BUT the way they interact with Kageyama is just GREAT because show their contrast and how they cope with problems and it’s precious and I love it.

Oikawa takes Kageyama as a rival, a threat, trying most of the time to destroy him. He fights his way to the top, and in that way, he overworks himself and practices until his technique is perfect. Causing to harm himself (his knee) but getting really great in his game and been able to play volleyball as his job even after losing multiply times. 

And then is Sugawara, he would consider Kageyama as a threat, as a rival, but he doesn't, he takes him as a team-mate. He doesn't try to destroy the problem BUT to understand him and be able to work with Kageyama. Becoming a great teacher and learning with him. And, if he doesn't need to carry alone the team he can focus on new techniques (like learning to spike), using new views to get better (like watching from the bench), becoming a fundamental player in Karasuno even if he wasn’t the official setter.

And Kageyama learns a lot from both of them. From Oikawa learns to practice and dedication, becoming a better player.  And from Sugawara learns to speak to their teammates and express himself becoming a better team-mate, and I think that's beautiful

The resume is that Sugawara and Oikawa help to create the professional volleyball player monster that is 24 years old Kageyama.
