It was a bright beautiful crisp morning out on the trails this past Friday. Thought this lake was a little low in volume, it was frozen from the edge out to about three feet, as it had dipped into the mid to low 20°s the night before.

About a weelk and a half back we went out to a little place in the California desert to shoot the Milkyway, but ended up basically getting skunked. The weather apps I use to determine cloud cover and general conditions got it pretty wrong on this night in this location, and the direct result were skies in which the Milkyway was not visible.

C'est la vie, I suppose. The apps won't always get it right.

Aaaanyway, I decided to just shoot a few frames anyway (after all, we drove all the way out there so why not, right??) and this one really caught you eye with the action of the clouds racing through the frame, and the light from the "traffic" on the Aerospace Highway over yonder.

It's not a portfolio worthy shot or anything, insofar as it lacks depth with no significant foreground, but I still like it. The story it tells is simply of sitting out under the stars on a relatively beautiful night, and that's a story that resonates with me.
