STUDY & CULTURE EXPERIENCE IN CHINA

My first year studying at the Chinese University, I was put in a four walled room with ten other foreign students. I don’t know what I was getting myself into but I was prepared to spend the next three years with them learning together and getting to know each other on a deeper personal level, understanding each others cultures, food, lifestyle and manners.

These precious people became my classmates, friends and family here in China. We shared so many laughs together, shared so much food and lots of memories in a photo. It was my first time experience to study cross culturally with students from Thailand, Laos, Madagascar, Tajikstan and Turkmenistan. Each individual came with their own way of learning, displaying their colorful characters, ideas, cultures and attitudes towards learning the Chinese language and about life in general, I for one learnt a lot from each one of them and it was the most humbling thing was to learn from people younger than you. One thing I can brag about my classmates are our friendship was not in only in the classroom, it was beyond that. We would go hang out together, eat together, drink together, share together and so many more. The cute Thai and Laos students would always spoil us with all kinds of South East Asian cuisine.

I am so grateful with the relationship that I have come to build with them and they will forever be in my stories and journey being in China.
