Foolin' the World.

AYO EDEBIRI in the past 7 days:

One morning a father and son came to get a blessing from the Rebbe. The Rebbe gave them each one crisp dollar bill.

Then, the Rebbe asked the young boy if he liked any sports. The boy answered, "Yes, I love baseball."

The Rebbe asked him which team he supported. And, the boy enthusiastically responded- "The Dodgers!!!"

Rebbe: When is the last time you went to watch the Dodgers?

Boy: A few weeks ago. But, we didn't stay til the end. The pitcher was weak. It was the bottom of the 9th with two outs. We were seven runs behind. It was clear what was going to happen so we left early.

Rebbe: What about the players?

Boy, surprised: I guess they played to the end.

Rebbe: You mean the players didn't leave?

Boy: They couldn't leave. They are the players. I'm just a supporter.

Then the Rebbe leaned in to give him an incredible peace of advice: Look. You can go through life in two ways. You can live your life as a supporter and when things don't go your way, you can quit and walk away. Or, you can go through life as a player and never give up until it's over. A Jew is a player, not a supporter.

“This ‘stuff’? Oh, okay. I see. You think this has nothing to do with you.”
