He shifted. Havenât head that voice in a long time. He mused about how long it must have been. Somehow, the adorable time out Ryou put him in became a years long stretch of the two not speaking to each other. Not that it bothered him, after all, a higher calling was far more engaging to seek.
It was, however, enticing.
Ryou knew how to deal out punishment. And his dedication to his judgement was only more alluring. Melvinâs heart may have been dead but his appetite was only fueled by this wolf.
He turned, still a splitting image of Marik as his hair was soaked. The glow of the thieveâs home shown on him like a spot light. There they stood. Two phantoms orbiting around each other, backs turned, a million miles apart. Now- they faced- the Wild and the Hearth, more alike in nature than one could consider- laying eyes on each other for the first time in years.
From the dark, basked in pale yellow light, Melvin tilted his head- getting a good look at the darling Ryou. Raging, hungry, dark eyes pierced from beneath his fluffy white hair. Perhaps the Wild was inside Ryou more than the storm that raged around Melvin. Perhaps⌠the Storm WAS Ryou.
And Melvin⌠may be wrong.
In his hollow chest, heart constricted like the veins in his face, something churned. What was it? Melvin frowned. The only thing that should rest within him should be cruelty. But⌠Ryou⌠What was he?
And what is he doing to him?
Slowly, after the drawn out silence as the two too ill-fated to be paired with one another stared down each other, Melvin spoke.
âItâs good to see you⌠RyouâŚâ
Ryou stood his ground under the otherâs gaze, unwavering under the otherâs scanning of him. He was eyeing him like a starved man at a buffet, but there was more.
In his time working as a builder of RP sets, he had learned the craft of reading between the lines, seeing what wasnât necessarily on the surface... something was churning inside of Melvin... would he find out in this session? Or the next? Would he find out at all? That was the true question.
Back to reality, he sighed, âYes... well... you pissed me off last time I saw you...â If looks could kill, his would be charged with attempted murder, âYouâve been gone a while...â
