No One Cares To Talk About It

Effy waited for him and tried to focus on things more. She was going to be okay. She was calm now and she knew she just had to keep Freddie around. He seemed to be the one who got her to be like this. She sighed as she sat up and looked at the door to see if he was almost done yet. She really just wanted to rest and have him be right next to her.
She was looking at the ground when he came out and held his hand out. She looked up at him and nodded slowly before taking his hand and holding it slightly tight as she lead the way into her room. It looked like normal again and she couldnāt see any sign of the mess she made earlier. Everything seemed safe. For now. She didnāt know how long itād last, but hopefully she could sleep before it all came back.
She let go of his hand and crawled onto the bed. She held her pillow close and looked up at Freddie; hoping heād lay down by her. She looked back at him with tears in her eyes and squeezed them closed as she curled up in a ball. She looked like the image of herself earlier when she was under her bed; the only thing changing was she was on it now.
She was so scared. So scared, and Freddie could see that fear written all over her face, even if he hadnāt been able to see her eyes swimming with tears and her figure slowly curling as small as she could get it. At least she was on the bed this time, rather than underneath it. At least he could settle with her this time, rather than trying to get close enough in with her in a space far too small for more than one person to settle.
He waited a moment after she laid down before moving around the other side of the bed, sitting down on the edge of it. Brushing his fingertips over her cheek, tucking hair back behind her ear, Freddie watched Effy close in on herself, watched her find some kind of solace in his presence. At least he could do this much. Without another word, he pulled the comforter up from the foot of the bed, dragging it over them both as he laid behind her to wrap an arm around her waist.Ā
āYouāll be alright, Eff,ā he offered softly. He hoped she would, at least. He hoped she would get better, that all of this was just her being on a bad trip, maybe an after effect of the shrooms theyād taken back months ago. Those effects were supposed to linger, werenāt they? He thought heād read something like that, at least.Ā āYouāll be alright. Get some sleep, weāll nip out of here and get something to eat in the morning.ā
