So today, I'm reaching out to the fans/players of the legendary New York Knicks basketball team, which just yesterday, won in the NBA Finals with great skill and DROVES of community-based hope in the team for the first time in 53 years (congrats!), to see if they can help us with getting our show back. There are SO MANY similarities between your team and our show. For example, our Rosamund Pike and Rafe Judkins, or the show's lead actress/executive producer and the show runner, the very meticulous and intentional builders of a diverse cast, crew, world, and story, remind me of the Knicks' very own Jalen Brunson.

WoT fans who don't know, let me tell a story.

Jalen, when he signed his contract with the team, began the long game to bring the Knicks to the Finals, taking a MASSIVE hit on his pay (like he took a $110 million pay cut - yes, it's THAT serious) so the team could find and bring on talented players to the team, Brunson became the face of the Knicks among fans (nearly as soon as he was signed to the Knicks in 2022), and he became THAT dude among the players, leading both the fans and this team through years of heartbreak and unfortunate losses.

Jalen's dad, Rick Brunson, was on the team. This is PERSONAL. But the hope for better keeps building...

Until this year, where the Knicks won 10 games in a row immediately before the finals. This year, the team was ready.

So, Game 4 happened. The Knicks are up against the San Antonio Spurs, a team composed of exclusively young, generational basketball talents, led by the Titan, over 7 feet of well-trained and intimidating muscle, Victor Wembanyama. The odds of the Knicks winning this game are not so great, especially with the Spurs in the lead by 29 points by halftime, the crowd of Knicks fan in Madison Square Gardens (where the game's taking place) is dead silent, and a lot of people watching the game from home just turn off the game, because how can the Knicks recover that lead from the Spurs in that amount of time? Impossible, right?

Not so fast. Let the miracle of hard work happen.

As the next half of the game happens, the Knicks proceed to chip away at that lead a couple points at a time. The catchup is only helped by the sudden change of the Spurs' ability to score points (there's a photograph of Wembanyama bent back, body halfway to the floor, arm poised to weakly make a shot no where near the basket that reminds me of a tragic Renaissance painting that should accurately show just how terribly the Spurs' offense was doing right then). Before you know it, the Knicks are back in the lead and the Knicks fans are going WILD.

It's the last few seconds of the game. The Spurs now have a singular point lead against the Knicks. OG Anunoby, a newer player on the Knicks, now has the ball, passes it to Brunson, who makes a shot that bounces off the rim of the basket and would've been worth 3 points -

That 'would've been' turns into an 'is' because OG's there to tip the ball back over the rim and through the hoop. With one second left in the game.

And the crowd.

Loses.

Its.

Mind.

Brunson's sacrifice of pay and hope in his teammates WINS the game.

It proceeds to win them the final game, too, and the entire NBA Championship. Great job to the Knicks' players!

But, to bring this back to WoT, we are essentially at our own Game 4 halftime. Hope in the SaveWoT movement is low. Hope that we can win that Hugo Award we were nominated for for our best episode (Season 3, Episode 4, "The Road to the Spear", in the Best Dramatic Presentation, Short Form category) is low. Hope that we will ever see this show that we have loved come to a natural end is low.
