Do you know who I am? | Jessica & Lucifer
Nowadays, starvation was becoming quite common. Long periods without meals, in order to keep the remaining stash functional and not drive a massive rebellion of famished vampires, were driving the redhead insanely mad. Jessica was peevish, which hampered her co-existence with the other members of the group. Therefore, she decided she should adventure on a lonesome, short journey. Perhaps, she would stumble across food - yeah, like that could happen that easily.
It was dark at night and the moon was high and full in the velvet sky. For a moment, Jessica pondered if leaving the company of others had been a wise idea. It was a full moon, meaning werewolves would be out there, and she heard of the ones unable to control their violence and impulses with the moon’s effect over them. They had packs. She was on her own, barely fed.
At that thought, the girl heard a crackle. Right now, the pale ginger was standing in a dark alley, and she thought she was on her own. Flicking around, her head instantly got light. Her hands were raised to the level of her ears and they were bleeding. God dammit, always the same drill! Ain’t you fucking got nothing new to share, you stupid vamp system? Her vision became blurry for a moment. Fuck. Desperation hit her. She couldn’t deny like that. Die of hunger, what a fucking fate. Quickly, Jessica underpinned her body on the brick wall, her forearm against it. As if she even could breathe, it was like her respiration became heavier. She had never experienced such hopelessness and symptoms in her death.
Until footsteps approached from afar. A glimpse of expectation grew inside her. Trying whatever she could, the ginger decided she wouldn’t have the strength for an attack - nor a simple attempt of it. With another tactic, she almost threw herself out of the alley. She was bad and weak, but not that horribly incapable to start falling around. “Help. Please, help… They’re coming." A lie, nothing but fat bullshit. Playing the helpless human always helped, especially looking angelically pretty. Usually, she’d just jump on them and ask later, but now she knew she was too weak and that would be a failure. Besides, that one before her, strolling on his own, smelled like… food.
The night was dark, the moon all that lit it up in this area of the town. Electricity was a foregone aspect of life on this planet, unless one was to rig up the means themselves. But the central lighting system of the city--gone. No more streetlights to help light the way, not that Lucifer needed any such thing, his vision clear, his senses on fire and seeing everything he needed to.Â
Especially when it came to the stumbling vampire from the alleyway. Ah, so that's where you've been, he thought. She didn't look good, he realized, a quick observational glance over Jessica--instantly recognizing her by the waves of red hair that flowed around her--telling him all he needed to know. He was surprised she had waited so long before seeking him out, before seeking out the means to feed herself with something to keep her alive, for if Lucifer wasn't mistaken, she seemed almost near death, very near starvation itself.Â
In fact, if he wasn't mistaken, she planned on playing him for a meal. Oh, dear, you've got another thing coming. But, for the moment, the archangel was entertained at her audacity, and decided to play along, catching her by her upper arms and keeping her standing, looking into her eyes, searching her face.Â
"Are you alright? Who's coming?" Eyes shone as he pierced her through with a glance; she was worse off than he had thought. "Damn. What the hell has happened to you?"Â Oh, how he hated playing human. So... inelegant.Â
{past} Meeting the Devil | Jessica & Lucifer
She couldn’t state, precisely, how long she had been a survivor. It had certainly been too long. For a vampire on the peak of its youth, who once was surrounded by people, the apocalypse, obviously, hadn’t been a friend. Easily - and willingly - Jessica embraced the roughness of that lifestyle, building barriers of steel around her heart. Watching innocent human die wasn’t a problem anymore, she saw it as a part of reality. Hearing the crying pleads of people in despair didn’t make her startle and jump on her feet, debating whether she should storm off to provide assistance. Her goal was keeping herself alive. Wherever Jason and Hoyt were, she wouldn’t end up there as well. Bill was dead, and Hell, she wasn’t going to be staked, burned, eaten alive or whatever else that God damn place had to offer.Â
Ten, maybe fifteen, were chasing her. They were fast, she had to admit, but not faster than a vampire full of adrenaline. Luckily, after a whole week without any nourishment, she had found a prey. Stumbling through the woods after unburying herself from the ground, Jessica found a fox’s lair. Never, ever in her life she imagined she would feed from an animal, but it’d been a while she hadn’t seen a human - living human, uninfected - and her ears were starting to bleed, she was becoming weaker. The girl was so hungry, the minute that unusual blood type touched her tongue, she practically tore the animal in pieces. It was like evolution rewound and now she was in the Stone Age, acting like a brutal, driven by instinct caveman - or woman, whatever.
That’s what saved her. One by one, Jessica broke their spines, never stopping on her track, aware they would reach her if she ever remained in one spot. When there was only one left, the thought of feeding on it crossed her mind, but she quickly discarded the idea, ripping its head off instead, even though with a certain level of difficulty, that fox’s blood not exactly helping that much to keep her strength.
A crack resounded from near by and she whipped her head to the direction, hissing. There was blood all over her mouth and chin, splatters across her face and clothes. It wasn’t another of them. They walked on herds, which wouldn’t make them that silent, and they’ve attacked her already. It was somebody - something else.
“Come out. Now," she demanded, speaking out loud."You see this head on the ground? I ain’t holding back from doing the same to yours, so do as I fucking say if you want to live!”
He could sense the death that had been visited upon this place so recently, the smell of the vanquished Infected penetrating the air. It was disgusting, really, but Lucifer had paid it all little mind for so long, that he was used to it. The Infected had been falling to each other recently; their need for violence and lack of basic humans about lending them to take out such violence on one another. But, again, Lucifer couldn't care about how many remained.Â
Once the virus had taken humanity, had turned them from alive to Infected, he didn't care what happened to them.Â
The voice that sounded brought a bit of a smile to himself. There was fire in the voice, an attitude that he could, surely, end up putting to use, and his Grace knew the creature that would be up ahead. Vampire. As Lucifer came from the shadows, he raised an eyebrow at the sight before him. The pitiful look of the vampire.Â
She may have had a fiery attitude, but she was weakened. Starved. Almost useless...Â
"I suggest you watch that tone of yours, little vampire. You know not to whom you speak."Â

Do you know who I am? | Jessica & Lucifer
It had been many weeks since he'd spoken to some of the vampires in his employ. A particular red-haired and feisty beauty among them. What she had been doing in this godforsaken world for all that time, Lucifer didn't know. There wasn't much to eat; the archangel had made sure of that. He'd made sure the quality food for their kind was strictly at Kingswood Psychiatric, his base hospital in Detroit.Â
A good supply of human blood was a nice way to keep the vampires pleased, and Lucifer needed to keep them pleased to keep them on his side willingly. Granted, he could always force them--but it was so much easier when they realized he was the better choice of their own free will.Â
So one night, Lucifer strolled along the streets of Detroit, letting the quiet and eerie darkness surround him. All was his in the darkness; he even let his inherent light barely penetrate it. At this, he looked like any normal human being walking down the street--not the all-powerful archangel that he truly was.Â
{past} Meeting the Devil | Jessica & Lucifer
There was plenty of debris that lay scattered about, making the once glorious cities or even the average small towns that humanity had clung to with pride and joy look completely worthless. Not that it mattered to Lucifer one way or the other whether the old grocery store no longer held any products or if the pharmacy that was once well-stocked was now, technically, spreading itself all across what used to be Main Street in some little human getaway.Â
Diseases always took time and effort to completely eradicate, anyway.Â
The distant sounds from Hellhounds could be heard off in the bordering forests. No doubt the strays had caught the scent of a few wandering creatures and who knew, perhaps even a human who had managed to stumble its way through life so far.Â
Lucifer would admire the tenacity, the strength, the power of such an achievement—if the humans weren’t so worthless a creature to begin with. Pity.Â

New (Old) Thoughts | Lucifer and Dean
It was the middle of the night and Dean deeply regretted not having turned back earlier. If he had, then he would have been home by now, inside and on a flat surface to sleep on instead of straddling one of the lower branches of a tree, back propped up against te trunk and attempting to get some rest. He didn’t dare to sleep. You fell asleep out in the open like this and there was a big risk you wouldn’t be waking up again and it was not a risk that Dean was willing to take. He’d allow himself an hour or two to rest his muscles but then he’d have to keep going again.Â
The trunk was cold and uncomfortable against his back but it beat resting on the ground where he would be a much easier target to spot and attack. This at least gave him the advantage of height.
The machete was resting loosely over his lap, ready to be swung at a moment’s notice. He had a gun tucked into the holster on his thigh and two other knives hidden on him. He kept his fingers crossed he wouldn’t need to use any of them. Not tonight at least, not while he was resting.
It wasn't long before Lucifer came across another, the archangel smiling to himself upon realizing just who it was. He paused, glancing up at the tree to see the form of Dean Winchester nuzzled cozily atop one of the branches. Well, well, well... There were weapons glinting in what little light was available, and it didn't surprise the Morningstar that Dean had allowed himself rest only fully armed. He would've expected nothing less.Â
He started to approach the tree, leaning against it from the other side, just slightly out of sight from the human, blocked by the tree itself. That was the one, unfortunate thing about actually climbing it; there were blind spots Lucifer could put to use. Half-hidden in shadows, arms crossed over his chest, he glanced up and watched the hunter.Â
"It's dangerous to fall asleep out here." His voice was casual, a simple conversational tone. A comment on the state of things in the world. "But I'm sure you know that, considering you're not really sleeping, and the arsenal you're carrying will take out multiple lives before they get a chance to harm you."Â

So…  it’d been a rocky few months.  Devil’s traps and holy water worked on all demons, even the ones with white eyes. Â
So for the last few months, she was being tortured for information she didn’t have.  That’s…  cool…  she guessed.  Well, actually it was pretty shitty.  Super fuckin’ shitty.  You summon a Knight of Hell one time and suddenly everyone wants to kill you!
Her offenders had vanished into thin air, of course…  so she was stuck.  And had been stuck.  And would continue to be stuck had it not been for the stranger that had entered the building.  She couldn’t exactly threaten them into helping her — not really…  the pesky little trap she was sitting on, and the rope tied around her wrists, prevented her from doing much of anything other than sit there.
”Do you mind helping a sister out, over here?  I’m a little…  tied up.”
Lucifer had followed the stench for hours, and it led to an abandoned building. It was a little less than he was expecting, but what could he say--the whole abandoned decor had a way about it that attracted the same sort of crowd. And certain individuals never were very inventive when it came to their locations.Â
Wards were broken, and he strolled through the building, looking for any random individuals. Any followers that may have been... left behind. And that's when he felt her presence. Ah, so there was one little demon, sitting bound--her essence muted.Â
He approached the door, leaning against the frame with his arms crossed, the slightest of grins of his face and eyebrow raised. "You know, I can see that. Sorry state you've found yourself in, Meg."Â
New (Old) Thoughts | Open
Every vessel needs its moment to be... worked in. This one was no different, and Lucifer took the opportunity when all was quiet was one night to leave the hospital, needing to clear his mind of the constant pleas of demons that had occurred throughout the day.Â
The night was dark; midnight had since been reached, and the stars sheltered behind heavy clouds. It happened more often than not, the archangel had come to realize--the hiding of the stars, the moon, behind plumes of smoke or thick clouds or whatever else this world chose.Â
Nature suffered because of this... all of this.Â
But it was necessary. It was always necessary.Â
He wouldn't have allowed it to continue, wouldn't have tried to start the process all those years ago, otherwise.Â
... Wouldn't he?Â
New Faces {A New Vessel} | Drabble
The vessel was beginning to deteriorate, and faster than he had hoped. He knew he could always go the route he had taken years ago, and drain his demons for their blood. But even that had only held it together by the bare bones. It had still nearly fallen apart, nearly stretched to the max. Just as it was now.
Grace was straining at the seams of his vessel, poor Nick put the ringer once again. Not only his own essence this time, which was enough to torture the physical body, but the constant onslaught of trials, the renewal from his brethren that he went through to ensure he always had enough power--it was beginning to wear on his vessel in a way that he never had to deal with the last time.
This was more than the demon blood would ever be able to handle, even if Lucifer was tempted to go that path again.Â
But that truly was the last thing Lucifer was going to do, the last thing any part of him wanted to do. The taste of the blood, the texture--it was all disgusting and a complete waste, considering the utter uselessness it ultimately had on the upkeep on his vessel. It wasn't like it kept the vessel whole, kept the vessel from falling apart.Â
No--he needed to trade over, get a new one...Â
And there were plenty of options.Â
The human he chose had already proven to be a vessel; his brother's Grace already leaving an imprint upon the body, upon the mind. He knew the male could hold his Grace, his essence not working its way through the vessel too soon. It would give him time to allow Nick to recover, to allow the healing rituals to do their work...Â
A simple trade-out. A simple exchange for the moment. Keep them fresh... Keep them new...Â
There was just a fragment of consciousness remaining in the human. A fragment that had hung on through Lucifer's taking of his brother's essence. A fragment that gave the human life, right at the end, and kept Death at bay.Â
~Accept me... Let me in~Â
The 'yes' that came in silent response, that came through the other's soul, was all that Lucifer needed. He smiled as he left Nick, as he let him fall to the ground in a flash of light and entered the new vessel, stretching through the limbs, the muscles, and making himself perfectly  at home.Â
Once he was secure in the new vessel, in... he searches the mind, the small, fading consciousness for a name, for a hint of a past... in... Alexander... Lucifer moved Nick to a back room of the hospital, ordering a couple demons to guard the body.Â
He'd need it later. Once it'd had time to recover... and when this vessel ended up reaching a tragic state and in need of its recovery...Â
Nothing Like A Chance Meeting || Frankie & Lucifer
Usually when she spoke, she could gauge the reaction she would get whether good or bad, but with him, it was difficult to tell. Even when she was actually being her most sincerest, there was always the possibility that she would somehow insult him and Frankie really wasn’t keen on running through the different consequences of what that might be.
“The path is open. You are free to leave.”
Again she swallowed, showing strength of character by straightening her body a little more and nodding to him as she took a couple of steps backwards. “Okay..thanks” She had no idea what his thoughts were right now. It was hard to decipher anything with him. The only emotion which was clear was when she had insulted or pissed him off.
Hearing him say he would not stop her, the blonde let her eyes wander to their surroundings. Maybe it was some sort of check on her part, but she needed to make sure there was only he and she—not something else lurking close by.
Her blue hues seemed unwilling to let him out of her peripheral vision, that hesitation you get when stress and anxiousness suffocate you so you feel like you can’t breathe properly. Frankie took the deepest of breaths, pushing much needed oxygen into her lungs, before dragging her eyes to look the other way as her body about turned.
She now had her back to him, concentration on high alert to any movement which could be picked up in the small over the shoulder glances and her hearing too. Walk..just keep walking..focus on the edge of the treeline. She listened to her inner voice of reason, knowing as soon as she was out of the woods, eagerness to return to her place would be welcomed. Though Frankie wouldn’t return to the building yet, she wanted to make sure she wasn’t being followed by anything, so would head elsewhere for a while. Meeting Lucifer tends to do that to you—hits you with paranoia of expecting to be snuffed out. Frankie would be glad when this day ended.

One always does what is needed || The Master and Lucifer
The Master swallowed. He was beginning to suspect that an archangel was exactly what he’d stumbled upon, and he had a sinking suspicion he knew which one. There was something about him that got under your skin— even if you were several hundred years old and well-versed in defending yourself, physically and mentally. He remembered how his run-in with Azazel— or Azaal, as he’d been calling himself then— had turned out. If it hadn’t been for the Doctor’s intervention then he wouldn’t have survived. And that had only been a demon.Â
This was… well, if he was correct, this was Azazel’s boss. What other archangel would ooze such malignance?Â
"An antique, unfortunately," he replied, trying to keep his apprehension from his face. He’d talked himself out of worse situations. Nevertheless, he made a mental note to avoid any suspiciously Croat-free zones from now on. "She’s a tad banged up, I’m afraid. Rough landing."
Now that the angel was closer, the Master could see the faint shimmer of his halo and the almost fibre-optic appearance of feathered wings. He knew that the limbs would have looked utterly tangible and solid had he been his true form, but in the vessel they were nothing more than pale reflections. Humans couldn’t even see them, and, remembering that, he drew his eyes quickly away. No sense making it obvious that he wasn’t what he seemed.Â
Angels had never got along with Time Lords. Now would be a bad time to reveal himself.Â
"Well, I must say I’m grateful that you’ve extended your patience to me, although I wouldn’t call myself a lost soul."
"Ships aren't exactly the preferred method of travel nowadays," said Lucifer, continuing to step a bit closer to the interesting and intriguing being. His attention was focused raptly on the one who had come upon his area of the city, who seemed to think talking--and talking well, Lucifer would grant him that--was the answer to his situation. But then, Lucifer knew words; knew the way they operated, their purpose, the way that, properly strung together, could infect and enslave the masses.Â
Talking to him wasn't likely to distract him from the very thing he wanted to know for certain--What and Who this being was.Â
"I believe mostly all of them would be considered antiques in some form or fashion, or completely unknown to the vast majority of the primitive minds of this world." He looked harder at the Master, eyebrow raised knowingly. Lucifer knew the other was definitely not of this planet, not of this creation. There was something deeper amongst his form that the archangel could barely notice, but it told him what he needed to know as far as that much was concerned--Â
He pulled back, form straightening. Lucifer didn't need his vast wealth of experience, his vast knowledge, to know the other had seen him. Truly seen him. Or at least, partially. The damaged wings that hung broken in a way, reflecting past glory; the light that was faded, crooked and bent. Every sign around him showed just who he was, just what he was--No longer as bright as the Morningstar was meant to be--Â
"I knew you weren't human, but this--I was not expecting to run in to one of you down here," said the archangel, head tilting in observation over the Time Lord. There was fascination there, mixed with the slightest hint of disdain; hatred. It had been ages since he'd come across one of them, and Lucifer understood now why he hadn't recognized the other instantly.Â
"Oh, I'd say you're quite lost. And very, very far from home... Time Lord."Â
