This blog is for me to rant post coherently about my stories and OCs, share snippets of my writing, and also post/reblog random writing memes and things!

I write primarily contemporary and fantasy novels, as well as some fanfiction (fanfic is mostly posted on my fandom blog, @number-one-shadisper-shipper). I love writing about found family and Christian themes like redemption and sanctification! I strongly believe in the power of words and stories to shape our thoughts and beliefs, and so I strive to write in a way that brings honor to God and causes people to think differently.

I've been putting it off because I disagree with the spiritual/magical aspects of it but I've known for a while if I ever started I would be obsessed and YEP

Alsldkckkzlslzkxkfkfk okay so I've been very Isom-pilled lately, mainly because of the animatic I'm trying to do with him. He's one of my favorite characters in general tbh. He's just!! Alalskdkdkdkslsks he's such a good character.

For starters, he's my thesis character on a Christian view of homosexuality, which is definitely a much-needed topic to address in today's society. It's a struggle that shapes his whole character from page one, althoughhe keeps it a secret for a long time, and he deals with a lot of shame and trauma from it, especially in the society that he's in where sex in general is a very taboo subject, and homosexuality especially is completely horrifying, so he has no one he thinks he can talk to about his struggle, and that just makes the whole thing have a strangling chokehold on him he thinks he will never be able to break.

What I love about him though besides that and also giving him all the ✨️TRAUMA✨️ is that even though he starts as a slave he's so very knight-coded. He's loyal and noble and a defender of women and weak people. He's just such a good guy who thinks he's irredeemably broken. His whole core is that he's desperate for love, but his worth is so tied up in his former slavery and his struggle with sin that he can't see how loved he is or how much he offers.

And he's just. So good. He cares so, so much about his people, mainly Andronicus but also Elowyn and Junia and anyone that he associates with Andronicus. He's loyal to a fault, and would literally always rather take the worst form of abuses if it means protecting the people he loves from it. He feels so dirty that he's afraid to stain the people he cares about, but he continues to serve them faithfully and watches over them and protects them. In Book Two when he and the girls are taken as slaves to Icytheocaea, he sits up every single night outside the girls' quarters to make sure no one tries to bother them because he knows how slaves are treated here, especially female slaves. He checks in on people constantly, he tries to stop a beating by taking the blow himself, he gives quiet encouragement and builds others up. And all while being so depressed that all he can think about is how soon he can kill himself.

Again his whole core is just love and a longing to be loved back, and I like it because he shows how some kinds of love can be wrong, ie his worshipful, fleshly "love" for Naileom and then Andronicus, but then Andronicus's Christ-like, brotherly love towards him shows him what love truly is: sacrificial, unconditional, seeking the other's good above your own pleasure. And being loved back for the first time, with that Christ-like love, changes him.

Anyways so a brief overview of the individual books on the series! (Here is a character overview if you need it first)

Book One: ??? This one is mostly an introduction to all the characters and the Academy as a whole but I don't really have an overarching plot yet besides SHENANIGANS. Elowyn comes to the Lion Academy, and meets her floormates (Andronicus, Isom, Ruslan, Lulareshana, and Nabiyya) I think the main climax of the book involves a tournament hosted by the Academy and all the main characters must learn to work together

Book Two: The Arena of Death. While on a trip up north between semesters, the gang gets captured and taken to Icytheocaea. While the girls and Isom are sold as house slaves to the local lord, the rest of the boys are taken to a gladiator arena. Andronicus attempts to keep his boys safe while also battling his own desire to claim the coveted title of Head Fighter, and Elowyn attempts to protect her people from the harassment and abuse of the lord's men while befriending the lord's youngest son and pushing him to change the status quo of cruelty towards the slaves.

Book Three: The Mark of the Twisted Serpent. Mason, the apprentice of a sorcerer involved in a secret society seeking to take down the Academy, is sent to the Academy in the guise of a student in order to find a book of spells hidden there centuries ago. However, Mason quickly finds friends in the other students there, especially Junia, the first girl he's ever met, and must decide whether to obey the orders of his master, his newfound conscience, or his own private desire to gain power for himself.

Book Four: The Battle of Bravery. A flashback to Andronicus's first year at the Academy. After being exiled from his home country, Andronicus finds his way to the Academy, where he is put on the same floor as Naileom and Naileom's slave Isom. Naileom is personable at first, but slowly Andronicus begins to catch glimpses of the cruel person beneath the facade. Tensions between the two boys rise leading up to the mid-year tournament, and Andronicus must learn to be brave enough to stand up to Naileom, for his own sake and for Isom's.

Book Five: The War of the Academy. Uhhhh don't worry about this one it has no real plot yet

Book Six: (???) A plague breaks out over the country, and Andronicus and Isom make a risky journey to find a special type of medicine to curb the spread. However, on their way back they get jumped and robbed by a group of thieves. Injured and lost in the forest, they must find a way to get back to civilization along with the one robber they managed to capture, who turns out to be none other than Isom's former abuser Naileom. Now Isom must not only get Andronicus (who has a broken leg) to safety, but deal with the constant reminder of his trauma and fear that Naileom will reveal his darkest secret to Andronicus.

Book Seven: (???). Andronicus returns to his home country on a mission to plant a new branch of the Academy. The only problem? His paranoid brother, who happens to be the king and the person who exiled him five years ago. Andronicus must prove his loyalty, while also keeping an eye on his new charges: Azotus and Aracus, a pair of troublesome teen twins, one of whom has been deemed "cursed" by an ancient superstition.
