The most unbelievable part of The Road (Comac McCarthy) is that the kudzu is dead

The Road is not generally a particularly funny novel, except maybe in a particular high level existential sense. But I do think that "The Bloodcults" is hands down the funniest feature of a setting for a protagonist to namedrop exactly once and then never bring up again. Yeah, yeah, the Bloodcults, these are known. The rattle on the cart wheel is new though
