               heartbeat   THRUMS   throughout   his   body   as   his   hands   grip   around   audrey  ,   holding   her   close   &   unsteady  ,   his   chin   nestled   in   her   hair  .   he’d   given   her   acceptance  , REASSURANCE   that   she   wasn’t   a   monster  ,   but   a   mere   victim   of   fate   &   the   butterfly   effect   in   play   ;   now he   didn’t   know   the   difference   between   right   &   wrong —between   truth    &   LIES  .   her   confession   bounced   around   in   his   mind  ,   trying   to   find   snags   or   trip   ups   or   ANYTHING   that just shouted   ‘ she’s   not   telling   you   the   whole   story  ’   to   him  .   nothing  .   there   was   nothing  .  so why   did   he   feel   so   SCEPTICAL?

              either   way  ,   he   knew  that   he’d   be   spending   hours   upon   hours   replaying   her   recording  ,   analysing it   like   he   did   with   EVERY   piece of   evidence   or   clue   that   he   discovered  .  evidence  .   was that   what   audrey   was   to   him   now   ?   eyes   squeeze   shut   and   he   tugs   her even   CLOSER   to him  ,   as   if   it   was   possible   within   the   laws   of   psychics   for   two   bodies   to   have   not   an   inch   of space   between   them  (   he   knew   that   wasn’t   true  ,   because   no   two   things   could   ever   be   truly touching  ,   there   was   microscopically   space   between   everything  .   )  WHAT   A   DAY.   his   breath   comes   out   as   a   hitched   intake  ,   a   non-composed   expression   of   raw   emotion  that   dies   almost   as quick   as   it is   born  .   there   was   one   bittersweet   conclusion   that  his   mind   kept   coming   back   to  , no   matter   the   outcome  ,   no   matter   what   she   had   or   hadn’t   done  :   he   didn’t   want   to lose   audrey jensen  .   and   so   he   clung   to   her   small   frame  ,   as   if   it   was   the   last   chance   he’d   get  .

                                               …   his   recording   was   still   on  .

                mumbling   something   in   a   quick   &   jumbled   tone   about   ‘  needing   to   save   power  ,  ’   begrudgingly   he   drew   away  ,   instantly   feeling   the   cold   that   came   with   her   absence  .   his   chair   slid   across   the   floor   as   he   threw   himself   on   it  ,   tapping   away   at   his   keyboard  ,   he   swallowed   thickly   &   hesitated   for   a   slither   of   a   second   before   hitting   SAVE   for   the   audio   file  and   titling   it   ‘Audrey’  .   he   shut   the   monitor   down   entirely   ;   that   was   nothing   she   needed   to   see  .

so   many   secrets   held   home   in   that   microscopic   space   between   them  .

he   turns   to   face   her  ,   his   gaze   tired   &   swimming   with   endless   questions.  

                                        ❝  so  ,   uh  .                      uh ,  what   now ...  ?   ❞  

he   didn’t   want   her   to   go  .   he   didn’t   WANT   to   be   alone   with  his   cat     &   mouse   mind    .

"I don't know you, but can I go into your backyard? There's a Meowth and I need it."

"Oh god there's a Magikarp on my bed."

"You know how I was having nightmares last night? Well, turns out there are six Drowzees in this area and I blame them."

"I'm going to church because it's the nearest Pokéstop and I really need Pokéballs."

"I just caught my seventeenth Weedle. There are too many bloody Weedles around here."

"...So, I used autocorrect to name my Pokémon, and now I have a Beedrill named Steve and a Jigglypuff named Fucker."
