“So, I was, so this tour, I’m going to be totally honest with you, I;m having more fun on this tour than I’ve ever had in my life. And one thing I love about this tour is um - I’ve been thinking that it’s raindrops, but it’s just sweat. That’s what I’m dealing with here. But i know you’ve been here all day, that you’ve been dancing for hours, so I know you understand. So basically, I love so many things about this tour, obviously you guys are high on the list. I also love the fact that I’ve been bringing back old songs, and playing songs that I haven’t played in years. And just kind of, it’s fun for me to kind of revisit those and see if they’re still good, and stuff. I do meet-and-greets before the and after the shows, and one of the last couple shows, there was someone I met, who said he was coming to this show too, and he told me a really beautiful story about how this was the song he listened to before he came out. And it honors me to have any part in that journey for anyone, and he asked me to play this song, because when he was a teenager, he was going through that, and living his life in a different part of the country, and I was a teenager who wrote this song for my first album. It’s called Invisible.”

“So I was wondering if it would be okay with you if we spent some time just you, and me, and a guitar, is that okay? Well I have a something in my eye situation. It’s a warm night, but you know, I spend a lot of time in Tampa, because my dad loves it here, because my parents love it. So this is actually a really chill, cool night for August, so I’m grateful. It could be way hotter, it could be a weather situation right now. But you guys, I started out in country music, which I am very proud of. And the coolest thing about being able to make music for the last 15 years is that you guys have allowed me to change, to experiment, to play around with different sounds. But that’s why this has been so much fun for me because if i had to do the same thing over and over, it wouldn’t be as fun for me, and you guys have always supported me in making a new album that is completely new every time. Because I feel like, and let me know if you agree, I feel like when I listen to music, I don’t care what genre it falls under, I just care if its lyrics I relate to, melody I like, and a feeling I connect to. Do you agree? Good, that’s why we get along so well. So, in theory, if you keep writing songs, hopefully it’s good lyrics, hopefully its a good melody, hopefully a feeling that people can connect to. The goal is that even if a song is super produced and has lots of diff sounds on the record, the hope is that you can strip it down and it’s just one instrument, and it could still be fun to sing along to it.”
