Kind of a dreary day today. Even the island was overcast. I wanted to just stay inside and rearrange my room all day, but those bells aren't going to earn themselves.
Despite the rain, a traveling art dealer came by and had a few pieces of art for sale. It made me sort of nervous that he was such a fast-talking kind of salesman, but I eventually caved and bought a "great statue." It should be delivered tomorrow, at which point Blather's'll tell me if I just wasted a few thousand bells on something less than authentic.
I slushed around in the mud most of the day as I talked to all of the other villagers. Frobert had a shirt Monique left at his place, and I helped return it. There's probably something more going on between those two than it appears, but it's not my job as mayor to snoop.
I also talked with the new resident, Deirdre. She seems nice, if a bit dismissive. The kind of person that'll give you advice even if you don't ask for it, you know? Still, she did give me a new shirt, so she can't be all bad.
Speaking of new residents, Tom ran into me earlier as I was making a payment on my house expansion load and told me that ANOTHER person was moving in! Apparently he is named Vesta. It's nice to have a growing town, but I haven't been here a week yet and the responsibility is piling up!
P.S. beetles really freak me out. They just blend in to the bark so well and then BUZZZZZ they pop out! My heart jumps every time. Not as bad as when I found the oak silk moth. SO HUGE! It twitched in a way that made my spine crawl. I swallowed my fear, for the good of the town, and donated it to the museum. Blathers had an all-too-hungry look in his eyes, but I'm sure he made sure my catches made it to the exhibit safely.
Oof! I'm rambling on and on! And nothing much even happened today! Can't wait for a day when something big happens!
