i really feel like the hyper-individualist ideas that have been programmed into everyone are going to be the absolute downfall of leftism in general. how can you achieve communism or even a semi-communal society if you arent willing to meet people halfway? many people say they are "intolerant of intolerance" and i think that thats reasonable, in the right context. i think that if someone is being openly hateful then yeah maybe theyre not a great comrade, but someone who maybe is ill-informed, uneducated, someone who has the right spirit but the wrong execution, are they all to be left behind? how far will this refusal to compromise go? as someone who has been around people of all kinds, the one thing ive noticed shine through more than anything is that people feel betrayed by society. men, women, trans people, disabled people, the elderly, black, white, asian, arab, everyone feels like society is failing them. and it is! but thats where they stop. no one wants to confront the fact that YOU are society. you have to be the one to reach out, to compromise, to make the effort. it starts with YOU.
