My friend Lyuba was stabbed to death a few days ago. She was already a mom to two precious littles and was pregnant with a third. He was born via an emergency delivery just after the heinous crime occurred and died moments later. The two surviving children no longer have a mama. Thereβs a link in my bio to help these kiddos out.Β Β So far the family has reached 50% of their goal.Β Β Letβs get them to beyond 100%.Β Β Please, please, please, take a moment to give what you can. // This also seems like the right time to address a few things. The first being, domestic violence is real. And not okay. Another thing thatβs not okay is victim blaming. As I scroll past commentaries on this story, I keep seeing βwhy didnβt she just leave?βΒ Β Hereβs the thing, folks, victims seldom have the choice to βjust leave.βBy asking that you are putting the responsibility of violence avoidance on the victim instead of the abuser.Β Β Rather than blaming the victim for staying, the better question to ask is, βwhy is this sub-human beating, stabbing, killing another person?β If the thought βwhy didnβt she just leave?β crossed your mind, you are partially the problem. Itβs time to reevaluate how we as a society view these sorts of things.
