I was working on this during passing time today. My friends and I made a game of finding out what we are on the picture. I am the river.

I've seen a lot of artists doing mermaid fan art of many different mediums for Mermay. And I also wanted to contribute, and I love mermaids, and I also love Phantomarine, so I made a Mermay Fan art of Fem Cheth.

And it was.

Cheth gives off Hermes vibes, which I love. And poor Phaedra is so confused.

I believe we all know of the super hot male monster characters that have become a common trope of western pop culture.

I for one have never been a fan of supernatural romance media, or romance media in general. Not saying I hate it, I just don't vibe with it.

But I do love the 'trope' ...trope? Is that a trope? The *concept* of higher beings falling from power and exiled by their own kind, having to learn to survive as a regular mortal. Say...a certain banished Goetia or something, or maybe a certain clone of Horde Prime thrown away to a backwater planet...

Pair that with a random post I saw of someone talking about a soul ending up "in-da-pendant" spurred me on to create a new OC.

My original idea was "what if there was this evil entity this universe's gods had to trap in a amulet or pendant of some sort to keep him at bay. Leaving it in the care of a chosen mortal to keep it contained.

My concept changed though after I thought about it more. He still is exiled by his fellow immortal beings for a crime I haven't decided on, giving him a mortal form to be trapped in as well as imprisoning him in the pendant and then leaving it in the care of a mortal that hates him to hold the pendant and use his magic.

Sometimes the pendant ejects him though, often continents away from the pendant keeper. Making him have to track the keeper down to be imprisoned in his pendant again. Either that or the other gods will add another millennia to his sentence if they find him out of the necklace. He is also not entirely evil now though, just irritated and slowly losing sanity, but other than that, not really bothering people.

Also wanted to make the mortal form he's trapped in much different from his his weird, creepy immortal one. His mortal one not having his birth marks as a symbol of his fall from godly-hood. He ends up putting the patterns of his old body's birth marks onto his clothes to reclaim his sense if self, a form of small rebellion.

Also, I just love the idea that his mortal form looks so fancy and visually appealing while his preferred form, his immortal one, is f-ing terrifying.

Thank you for listening to my rant, I know it is very long and I admire your patience. Please don't use my art to train AI, but please, I would love to see other people make this a trope in their own works.
