Secret Saturdays AU/B-side?
Alright, it's a bit of a long one, so: Intersting thing I learned was that the original pitch for "Secret Saturdays" was called Cryptids (verry fitting here) and was actually about a trio of cryptids travelling in a futuristic rv with their human companion Francis trying to prevent humans from discovering the cryptids and stopping the bad guys from using them. Basically the main thing of the show.
So, I thought up of a plot where that could have been used as an AU or told as a parrallel story to the main show(again, nothing was oficially written other than the initial ideas.
The 3 cryptids- some sort of Bigfoot/Yeti, a very smart tasmanian tiger, an argentavis/some birdman would travel with their adopted son/human companion whom I thought of renaming Jackson. They found him as a toddler when his parents' plane crash-landed in the amazon jungle where the trio was on a mission trying to save some magic glowing toads. There was no one around at the time, so the cryptids took him in and decided to raise him after he got attached and they also liked him. They obviously did not know his name, he could have been named Francis by his parents to tie it to the lore, but the trio named him Jackson after many famous explorers.
The main plot would have been the 4 of them traveling in the super rv around the world, hiding from humans, the government, evil villains, poachers that try to capture cryptids while trying to keep their fellow cryptids hidden and thwarting the plans of the evil Monsieur Dodo – a mysterious villain that’s been trying to steal some ancient Egyptian artefacts that could destroy the world. Also, as a bonus if it was a parallel story, I thought of making it more fun by having Jackson and the cryptids getting in the way of the “Secret scientists”. Why? Because those scientists TRY to discover and understand the unknown, while the group tries to keep it hidden from humans!
For example, one of the secret scientists was obsessed with aliens, right? Well, in his search of aliens, he would endanger one of the dear friends of Jackson and the monster crew – Prof. Chu Pai (if it was not obvious, he’s a chupacabra) who came from space, so an alien that feeds on goats, but is currently posing as a researcher in Mexico so he can get materials to fix his ship. Chu Pai is also the one that helps improving and basically helped make the super rv into what it is today from just a regular car mr. yeti lifted (quite literally) from a parking lot for condemned cars. So while the Secret scientist tries to search for clues, the group would actively be trying to plant false leads and hide Chu Pai’s existence from that one, until the scientist gives up and goes home.
As for the big bad, Monsieur Dodo is not quite decided. I have 2 versions of him which are both hilarious.
1-He is just a regular human that was once attacked and VERY traumatized by a flock of dodos off the coast of Madagascar, so he swore to destroy all cryptids, which brings him in direct opposition to Jackson and his family.
2-He is an actual dodo that is trying to bring the world to its knees and everyone to bow to him! He is the last survivor of his species after the damned humans hunted them to near extinction while the rats and disease did the rest. He swore revenge on humanity for what they did, but also on the other cryptids because no one came to aid them, no one even responded to their plight before only he was left. He can speak due to some tech or a magic space rock.
