F2F â RYLEY || INTRODUCTION
Marley Rose sat on the couch in the day room reading a book. It was one of her favorites and she had read it several times before, but she couldnât stop. It was a classic and she had loved it since the first time she read it. Despite knowing the outcome of the story, she found herself reading it over and over. It was so good that she continuously went back to it. Her family didnât seem to understand, but she didnât mind much. They all seemed to do their own thing. Now that it was summer and she had graduated she could actually read for fun. She had been accepted to her dream school after a lot of hard work. Even though her family had quite a bit of money, she still liked to earn things. Thatâs where she differed from her family. A lot of them thought they deserved things because they had money, but she hated that. Marley wanted to have worth and like to work hard to get things she earned. Yes having the money was nice and it helped her family, but she still wanted more out of life than to be known as the rich girl. She didnât want to be treated differently because of her last name or the fact that her family had money even though she was. She always made efforts for people to get to know her for who she was not just what theyâve heard about her. Sometimes the things were true. A lot of people tired to get close to her just because of her families money. She hated shallow people. Despite this fact, she sometimes had to act that way to please her family. They all expected certain things from her. She was suppose to be the best and the brightest. She hated having to pretend to be something she wasnât sometimes. She was bright and top of her class, but she knew there were better people out there. Thatâs why she made it a personal goal to be nice and kind to people. Then she could stick out in her own way and it would be for good. Her family didnât care about good though or even being kind. They cared about being the best. So they hired a number of tutors and people to give her lessons on various things. Most of them Marley was pretty good at, but didnât necessarily care about them. She just did them because she knew that was what her family expected from her. So she would try to strive to master them and be the best. Having her family on her side was a lot better than them condemning her and coming down on her all the time. Part of her hated it, but she did what she had to do. So Marley did her best to play the role of perfect daughter and do as she was told. Now it was summer though and even though she still had expectations on her some of them were lesson. She had some free time to do as she pleased. Usually that time was spent reading or some other activity that she loved. She could do as she wanted. Plus, her family was spending the summer in Lima. It wasnât the most exciting town, but the house was part of her heritage. The house remained empty during the year due to everyone leaving off in various places, but in the summer her family always came back to Lima. It was the highlight of her summer. Nothing beat coming back and getting away from all the business of the big city. Lima had a peaceful and calming aspect to it and she loved to her time just relaxing. Thatâs exactly what she was doing. She got comfortable on the couch as the sun warmed her and began reading her book. She was getting lost in the pages when she heard a knock at the door. Everyone was out besides her and her mother. She knew her mother wouldnât hear it because she was in the back gardening. So that meant Marley would have to do it. She sighed as she set her book down, but didnât want to keep the person waiting too long. She hurried to the door to open it only to fine one of the most attractive guys she had ever seen, not that sheâd ever say that out loud. Marley quickly recovered her composure and smiled at him. âHi. May I help you?â she asked curiously as she continued to smile.Â
The boy wasn't sure what he was expecting, or how he would react to seeing Mrs Rose if she opened the door. He tried to keep calm, stay cool and relax. It seemed like the hardest thing to do. How can he be polite to someone who accused his dad of something he did not do? Ryder shook his head, ignoring the thoughts illuminating in his mind. "It's fine dude. Just give her what she wants and leave." he told himself as he kept walking, getting closer and closer to his destination. He looked around, realising that he will miss this place. He remembered sitting at the porch, glancing at his dad who was making sure that everything stayed flawless. The hardest thing to do is to say goodbye, even to something as irrelevant as a house, which did not belong to him in the first place. He sighed and knocked on the door, a sound echoed across as he squeezed his palm. He looked down, and placed his hands in his pockets. A minute has passed, and Ryder was getting impatient. He wasn't the most forbearing person, but then again, boys his age, never are. Hearing footsteps, walking towards him, made him nervous, but when a stranger popped out, and greeted him kindly, he furrowed his eyebrows, surprised at the turn of the events. A tall, brunette stood in front of him, her beautiful, blue eyes looking into his. "You're not Mrs Rose." he announced, realising how stupid he sounded. "I mean--you're--sorry, I have no idea who you are, but I'm looking for Mrs Rose, I need to see her..as soon as possible.." he told her, half-smiling, making sure he seemed at least, slightly polite. His curiosity started to get to him, a young, mysterious girl about his age..and he knew nothing about her. He wondered who she was and what was she doing at the Rose Residence, a cousin, a friend? He could not recall his father telling him that the Roses had a daughter, but the resemblance did strike him immediately, so who was this girl? It was none of his business..and he wanted to leave right away but something prevented him from moving. He wanted to hear her speak again, at least once, before he was gone from her life. For good.
