Roof penetration leak in Lakeway, Texas

Roof leaks are not always caused by missing shingles.

This Lakeway inspection involved water getting through around a small roof penetration tied to water-heater equipment. The leak was enough to activate the home’s emergency water shut-off system.

That is why roof penetrations, flashing, sealant, vents, pipe boots, and surrounding shingles need to be checked together before guessing at the repair.

Hail came down hard tonight across Round Rock, Georgetown, and Austin, Texas.

This is what it looked like hitting the ground. What matters is what it may have done to your roof.

This roof can’t breathe.

Kyle, Texas

Newer home. Looks clean from the street. But under the eaves, there’s no visible intake ventilation.

No spray foam system. Barely any baffles to guide airflow. No clear edge vent bringing air in.

That means the roof has no real way to pull in fresh air, so heat just gets trapped in the attic.

Over time, that can lead to faster shingle wear, higher energy bills, and moisture buildup most homeowners won’t see until it becomes a problem.
