When people order things that we don’t sell and get increasingly agitated about it. Not just mad but continuously saying the thing we don’t sell angerly as if that will spark in me a change so i can pull the thing out of my own ass.

Why I Haven’t Been Around

I actually stopped working in retail over a year ago. I currently work in a call center. Also life has been crazy. That being said, I plan on continuing this blog seldomly, being that over 15 years in retail has an abundance of stories to share. I want to thank my followers for not unfollowing me despite the lack of activity.

I was also thinking about transforming this blog into “work horror stories” in general rather than only focusing on retail. Thoughts?

Lucky They Didn't Ring Up As One Cent

A woman came in to return two crates she purchased a year ago. Proceeded to get upset that she could only receive store credit. Doubly upset when we told her, since we stopped carrying the crates over 6 months ago, that she would be getting the clearance price.

Poisoned cake

Had a customer complain that her cake was poisoned because the red food colouring had a taste to it and it stained her mouth. Of course it’ll have a flavour when using quite a bit of food colouring…but not freakin’ poison…

Exactly two weeks from today I will be done with my training and closing the store by myself for the first time. Well, I’ll have a crew but I’ll be the only manager. I’m going to be personally in charge of making sure everything goes well and the building doesn’t catch on fire and gets cleaned perfectly and cash is counted right and labor isn’t too high and no one dies and all the customers are happy. All by myself. I’m not going to have anyone to ask if I have a question. I have to deal with everything.
