Calling all artists and writers
Putting your work out there can be difficult. Which is why The Magic Brew Zine was created! The Magic Brew is a non-profit zine for writers and artists alike. It will have a Magic theme, so be as creative as you want with it! Draw a cute comic of witches misfortunes, or maybe just draw some magic herbs- or even write about wizards and dragons! This is a zine for anyone UNDER 25 years of age. We want young artists and authors looking to get their work out there. LGBT+, POC, and minority centric pieces are welcomed and encouraged! We want to try and reach a multitude of viewers, and want everyone to feel represented and accepted. ANY FORM OF HATE WILL NOT BE TOLERATED
This zine is open to all artists and writers who would like to not only support a good cause, but also want to get their work out there!
When filling out your application, you will be asked to give us a social media platform we can contact you with. Please ensure it is public and preferably a writing account. If you don’t have a writing account, that’s totally okay!
Poetry submissions are welcome as long as short fics. Writing pieces must NOT surpass 2k words
When submitting a preview of your writing, please make sure it is a MINIMUM of 500 words. If you’d rather submit a small blurb, give us context for the blurb and specify that it is only an excerpt of your writing.
Prepare NOW. Being better prepared for when applications open, is better than just applying on a whim.
We will be accepting 5 writers. Each writer may include a MAX of 3 works, and a MINIMUM of 1 work.
If you don’t get in, feet not! You will be placed on a pintch hitter list. If someone on the writers team is unable to complete their story/drops out, you will be contacted. You will have 24 hours to respond and claim your place before we move on to the next on the list.
Submit 2-3 previews of your works. (Preview submissions will be through links to your posted art)
Draw a MINIMUM of 1 full page and colour art piece. You can submit a MAXIMUM of 5 pieces per artist.
If you don’t make the first round of artists, it’s okay! You’ll be placed on a pinch hitter list. If someone can’t complete their art/drops out, you will be contacted via email. You will have 24 hours ONLY to respond before we move on to the next in line.
We will be accepting 10 artists, keep in mind, quality over quantity.
You can also submit a comic. It must NOT surpass two pages in length. If you do a comic, you can only submit 1 other piece of art.
As an artist, we will ask if you can help make/create merch. If you’d rather focus SOLELY on merch, we will have a separate application for that.
Certain artists will be asked to help design a cover, and flyers for this Zine. We will request your help via email. YOU DO NOT have to accept. You can say no and we will ask someone else.

We will ONLY be accepting 2 MODs. Fill out this application.
Your job as a mod is to answer questions, do surprise check ins, and ensure everyone will meet the deadline. As a MOD you will also be expected to advertise this Zine to the best of your abilities.
Must be 25 or under to be apart of this
Any and all hate/intolerance will not be accepted
Works must be sfw. We will have younger viewers reading this zine, so please nothing that isn’t SFW. (Nudity is OK, just no sex, bondage, kinks… etc)
LGBT+/minority centric works are accepted and encouraged, but not necessary. We want to reach a multitude of viewers, and want everyone to feel accepted.
If you harass any of the other artists/authors, it will result in IMMEDIATE ban from this activity. We will require photo proof of said harassment/bullying.
Discord is not necessary, but definitely recommend. MODs must have discord, to help better manage everything.
