There's a nod at that, a soft fond huff, at the very least the change is a welcome one. Strange, certainly, but welcome. That's something. ❝Yeah, you say that now- things get a little.. chaotic around here.❞ That's one way to put it, certainly.
-- ❝I'd say seeing you is stranger to me, with all the.. clone bullshit, the timelines, I'm pretty well adjusted to seeing all kinds of versions of me. Not so often I stumble across you.❞ A pause then, realizing that it might seem diminishing to act as though any of those other Rachels are HER- she's her own person, he doesn't want to take that away from her. ❝Or other versions of you, that is.❞ Nice save. ❝I can tell you all about them but maybe not all at once. You're wrapping your head around enough without all my bullshit being added to it.❞ There's a worry in him that she might feel obliged to change, to try and live up to who she once was to him, and that's the last thing he wants. She's not his Rachel, not Mother Askani and she has no obligation to take up that mantle. -- ❝Disappointment..?❞ A scoff slips from his lips, perhaps a little more harsh that he means it to be. Clearly her Scott is a little different from their own if she thinks that a possibility. ❝I can promise you that he isn't going to disappointed, I can even imagine he'll be happy he's finally got a daughter. Expect a lot of questions. Not about the multiverse shit but- about you. He'll want to know everything.❞ Even with that, he's expecting some push-back from the two Stryfe's, but he'll handle them as best he can - save her from that stress. -- ❝If he can handle Stryfe and his.. little counterpart, don't think much you can tell him will be a surprise to him.❞
"Well, I hear some people call the Phoenix Chaos-Bringer, for a reason," Rachel jokes. By all accounts, the X-Men have always found plenty of chaos with or without its help.
"I don't think I spotted any other versions of me. It's nice to know they're out there, though, some of them with versions of you. I can wait for the stories." Desperately curious as she is!
Expect a lot of questions... about you. He'll want to know everything.
Rachel quails internally at that.
...She hopes she'll get a chance to wait for the stories.
"I'll answer the questions," she says softly. She's been planning to do that anyway. But Cable doesn't know enough yet to know what those answers -- wait, does he? Could her Askani sister-self have gone through anything like it and told him?
She doesn't think she has the nerve to ask him that. "...I guess I'd better be getting in?"
