I don't see enough people mourning over the slow death of physical media. And I don't just mean TV shows, video games, or movies--which don't even get me started about how we don't really 'own' anything anymore. It includes notes, journals, and letters to one another...so much of our history is lost when we lose a password, a website goes down, a file/hardware is corrupted, or a platform disappears. History that doesn't seem important until you no longer have access to it. Physical media does a lot for memory recall. How many memories will we lose because we don't have something tangible to tie it back to? Something to hold in our hands and stir up those memories we thought were once lost? Sometimes I wonder what the difference between burning a book and losing access to physical media is when someone can pull the plug and remove your access so easily.

Aside from writing all my notes on paper because I’m neurodivergent and online notes stress me out, I try writing letters and I send postcards to my loved ones but almost no one reciprocates 😔

what people think alice oseman books are like: blushing awkward first meetings, little chaste first kisses, giggling teenage boys holding hands what alice oseman books are actually like: hey what if your entire personality is actually a carefully constructed facade to make other people like you and to disguise the fact that you don't actually know who you are. if you stripped away all the walls, all the artificial things that you think make you up, what would be left? what would happen if you stopped living for other people and started living for yourself? is there even a person in there or just a gaping void with nothing left in it? wouldn't that be fucked up? do you even know yourself? do you even have a real personality anymore?

I fucking love Radio Silence so much because one of the things it's about is how the education system can fail not just the kids who aren't good at school, but also the kids who are really really good at school. Frances aces all of her classes but she's still being crushed by the pressure and is convinced she needs to get into the best university to study something she doesn't even like. Bc if she doesn't then she wasted years of her life on studying and things she doesn't care about and how else could she possibly be successful? How can she waste this opportunity?

Not every story is about seeing yourself in it. Sometimes it’s about learning to see other people too.
