In an effort to spend more time with new music, I'm setting a goal to make a mixtape every week. This first one is mostly thanks to recent editions of Hype Machine's Stack. But it's a cool mix, and I'll work on sourcing from different places in the next one.

I respect this person and want to celebrate them... If I don't show up, I might not get invited next time No one I know is going I don't want to go alone, not because I'm afraid to, but because it's so outside the norm that everyone involved gets very uncomfortable If I talk to the inviter about not coming because of this, I'm a dick I don't want to go alone and hover around the guest of honor AKA only person I know I don't want to lie because it's so lame and annoying and everybody does it

Why is this just for teens? And if so, why are they sending it to a twenty-something? Regardless, I WANT IN.

The first one, a young Indian guy. He's listening to music, eating his lunch with one hand, holding his phone with the other. The next two--a middle aged guy and younger woman. He is interviewing her and writing notes in a notebook. He's focused and actively listening. She is talking effusively, making a lot of gestures with her hands. Her legs are crossed toward him, and one wrist rests on her knee, facing up. The next two, a tall white guy and tiny Indian woman. They seem like colleagues, but clearly enjoy each other's company. He offers her his sandwich, and she accepts, to try a bite. They're comfortable and share a few laughs. Oh wait. They're a couple. And the last woman is resting on the arm of her bench, looking at her phone. Her head is bent over and she's totally engrossed in her moment. 080515

4: I’m glad they’re making an attempt. But their content should more clearly differentiate themselves from other womens’ publications. Right now it feels to similar (although I think those similarities are purposefully satirical.
