See people react differently to someon's passing and numbness is completly normal, your brain is trying to process new information, it's confusing and new it's okay to feel numb or lost or not know how to cope. At first not experiencing emotion can be mormal (when my grandpa passed it took a while for me to process what it actually meant)
l also wanted to add that from my understating you weren't sure if they died or not (you thought so but yk no one told you that it for sure happened) So l'd assume you maybe not actually accepted this information, didn't quite believe it yet subconsciously (I get like this sometimes)
It's completly fine to react in a different way not everyone cries some people feel sick some lost some like you numb. You're not alone.

Well first of all I'd be cautious about meeting people you know online irl (that's just a precaution and I feel the need to say this just in case)
