At first this felt like Hawks was just shooting the breeze with some average person on the street. But, now it was getting a little personal; more than he was used to, anyway. Was this guy high up in the commission or something? Or was he being a dumb, forgetful birdbrain who couldnât recognize faces?
âIâm sorry, have we met? Like, Iâm not asking to be mean or anything, Iâm just not entirely awakeâŚâ
Now itâs Renkiâs turn to be confused. He could sense some tension in the air despite him trying to be as non-threatening as possible. It wasnât as though he was trying to prod Hawks for information, but perhaps the mere mention of working for the government at all brought to mind the Commission.
âI donât see why we would have met before. Iâm not part of the government that deals with the operations of heroes. While I could describe my job as âgetting rid of things the government doesnât want aroundâ, that makes me sound like some kind of assassin. So Iâll spare you the details and just say that I work in commerce.â
tiredheroesâ:
âGood to know,â Unzipped, Aizawa rose from his sleeping bag like a zombie from a grave. Her certainly looked like one, with his perpetually disheveled appearance and heavy-looking eyes.
His attention was really caught, however, when she mentioned the villain attacks. He listened, now a bit more intently, to her suggestion. He mused over the idea; UA already had very high-end security, and the students had proven that they could handle most anything any villain could dish out. It wasnât his call to make, but maybe he should provide his feedback.
ââŚSince villains are growing bolder, that may be a good idea,â he nodded, âbut thatâs not my call to make. My students have proven themselves, but it canât hurt, going forward. Did you have someone in mind?â Herself, he assumed.
Maho finally got the chance to behold Aizawa in all his...glory? Unless forced, he never did put much stock into his appearance, but he looked even more haggard than she remembered. The intervening years seemed to have taken their toll on him too, judging from his new scars.
âYeah, I figured as much. I didnât think youâd have the authority to say one way or the other, but thereâs no reason I couldnât at least bounce it off you. That said, while Iâm sure youâre teaching them well, thereâs the inexorable fact that villains seem to be targeting this school with a rather alarming frequency. Between the USJ incident and that kidnapping, it feels like itâs all building up to something.â She did have her suspicions as to why things were like that, but since they were just guesses she kept them to herself.
She couldnât help but smile. While Aizawa hadnât stated it outright, it was pretty clear to her that heâd sussed out that she was indeed referring to herself. âCanât blame a girl for wanting to walk down memory lane and help safeguard the next generation, can you?â
@simpbaitandcoâ from here
âI sure wish Iâd actually been allowed to become an actual hero after I graduated from UA. But no, the government had other things in mind for me. Not that itâs a mismatch for me, but the whole âbeing carted around the world with little to no warningâ thing gets old fast.â If nothing else, Renki had enough self-awareness to know that excessive complaining to a stranger was hardly a polite things to do.
âBut enough about me moping. How are you today? Anything new and exciting on the heroics front?â It was unlikely that Hawks knew who he was, but despite only being nominally based in Japan, Renki knew about the winged hero, albeit not well.
âI am awake but at what cost?â (Have a Renki this time)
"Ugh. Yeah. The price of being awake is steep."
âIt sucks being carted all over the world doing government work. I canât tell whatâs morning and whatâs night anymore.â

Funnily enough, I havenât gotten a chance to use Renki once, but letting Maho have all the spotlight is just something heâd do, so it fits.
simpbaitandcoâ:
âEh, nothing I canât handle. Helps that Iâm so fast, I can keep up with all the baddies as they all pop up.â Hawks grins. He said this all not to brag, but more to try to assure this person.
âWell, it pays to be optimistic, if nothing else. Youâre truly a role model to aspiring heroes everywhere.â Despite the lack of abject enthusiasm in her voice, Maho wasnât being sarcastic, trying to keep her demeanor professional.
It suddenly occurred to her that he probably didnât know who she was. âThe nameâs Maho. Maho Tsue, though my professional name is MagiâMari. You, on the other hand, need no introductions, of course.â Youâd have to be living under a rock to not know about the #2 hero Hawks, and in fact there was a sizable part of the population that felt heâd make a better #1 hero than the reigning Endeavor.â
@simpbaitandcoâ from here
âPerhaps it was a bit overdramatic to put it that way, but do you ever feel like your job is truly done? Is there ever a shortage of villains to fight or people to save?â Maho asked him in return. She wasnât implying it wasnât important or worthwhile, but being a hero truly felt like the embodiment of a Sisyphean trial some days. Â
âThereâs always a crisis somewhere itâs a wonder the world hasnât ended yet. Youâve been at this pro hero gig for a little longer than I have, so youâd know better than I, though.â

âHereâs the planâŚâ His voice was hushed, veering on conspiratorial, as he leaned in towards the other hero. The villain they were going after had been tearing up the area for weeks, rampaging quickly before vanishing into crowds of civilians. Eraserâs idea was to take that comfort awayâlet his defenses fall and strike on his territory.Â
âYouâre gonna draw this guy out, got it? Get him to follow you a few blocks, out to where the streets are wider. Iâll follow from behind and disable the villain when he begins to transform. Whichever of us has a clearer shot will detain him and the other can play people keeper for all of the civilians who donât know how to mind their own business.â
Having gone to UA back in her younger years, being able to work with one of the teachers there was like a dream come true for Maho. Now, she hadnât been in Eraserheadâs class, but it wasnât as though the classes didnât intermingle at all. As such, while they were still pro heroes, it came naturally to her to defer to Aizawa when it came to the planning stage; her forte was being big and flashy, not tactics.
âYou almost make it sound so easy. If theyâre as slippery as youâre saying, how do I get him to follow me? Now, making a huge scene would be easy for me, so getting his attention will be the easy part. Do you know where he is so we can start?â Maho idly twirled one of her wants in her hand, on edge due to the importance of this mission.
tiredheroesâ:
Ah. That was why she sounded familiar. Mr. Aizawa mused to himself, as he looked her up and down. She probably had a point that sleeping in his classroom wouldâve yielded a better nap, but it hardly mattered. He was such a light sleeper, a bird by his window wouldâve woken him up.Â
âI see, youâre another guest speaker,â seeing as how he wasnât going to get much more sleep in, he started to upright himself and snake an arm out to unzip himself free, âIâm sure the students will benefit from hearing what youâve got to say. Iâve gotâŚâ he checked the time on his phone, ââŚanother fifteen minutes before my students return from lunch. Do you need something, beforehand?âÂ
Despite not having gotten many chances to have witnessed Aizawaâs ârebirthâ from his cocoon, it always amused Maho to watch it happen. That said, the man really looked like he was more worn out than usual, but she wouldnât risk insulting him by pointing it out. âFifteen minutes should be plenty of time, and no, I think I have everything I need.â She was just here to talk, after all, but in the case she did need to use her Quirk, she had plenty of wands on her person.
âAnd Iâm sorry for springing this on you first, but I figure if Iâm going to go to Nezu about it anyway after Iâm done talking with the classes, you might as well hear it to. So anyway, Iâve been thinking about all the publicized villain attacks on UA, especially on your class.â
Maho took a breath, knowing she had a lot to say. âSince it seems to be too much for the staff to handle as it is, would it possibly be a good idea to have more security? Like, say, in pro heroes who are UA alums who know this place already?â She might be referring to herself when she said it, but thereâs always the plausible deniability if Aizawa shot her down right there and then.

Was he really sad over chicken nuggets? no. He didnt even have chicken nuggets and if you looked anywhere you would see no nuggets anywhere. Heâs just not gonna tell some random af stranger his issues.
âI actually cant believe you fell for that. No im not sad over nuggets i just dont know you.â
Maho shrugged her shoulders. It wouldnât be the first time someone used her kindness against her, and she knew it certainly wouldnât be the last. She didnât hold it against him that he didnât want to tell her, but the fact that he lied to her instead of just being honest about not wanting to rubbed her the wrong way.
âI mean, itâs not like I âfell forâ anything, and to be honest, I thought it was kind of a silly reason to be upset, but I didnât want to be rude and actually say that on the off-chance that it was the case, you know? If you donât want to tell me, you donât have to tell me. Just be upfront about it instead of playing games, okay?â
thefacelessleaderâ:
âThereâs many things that are the matter but currently i dropped my chicken nuggets and honestly im so disappointed.â
.
Of all the things that could have sent him into depression, it was over chicken nuggets? Well, Maho at least knew not to let her incredulity pepper her voice when this kid was still bothered nonetheless. âOh, thatâs quite a shame. Are there any left? Can you get more?â
thefacelessleaderâ:
âMan, i could use a hug..â
âAw, is something the matter? Anything you want or need to talk about?â
tiredheroesâ:
At being poked, the shape inside the sleeping bag started to stir a little bit. Why did that voice sound familiar? It wasnât a teacher, but Mr. Aizawa didnât forget people easily. He gave a quiet groan as he flipped himself over to look at the figure who disturbed him.
âI was finished with my work, so I was trying to take a nap,â the keyword being âtryingâ. Really, he had been laying with his eyes open, hoping the despondent mood he was in would pass enough to let him get a few minutes of sleep in, âdo you need somethingâŚâ He looked her up and down, swearing heâd met her before, but a name was eluding him, ââŚMissâŚ?âÂ
As if there had been any doubt whatsoever, Mahoâs suspicions had been concerned, this âmystery napperâ having just been Aizawa. She couldnât really tell if sheâd woken him up or if heâd just been lying there out in the open. âSir, I think we both know that if you were truly trying to take a nap, you wouldnât have picked a spot in the hallway where anyone could walk over and trip over you. Any of the rooms would have been far more secluded and quieter, you know.â
From the sound of things, he didnât really recognize her, but itâs not as though Maho blamed him for that. After all, itâd been over half a decade since sheâd been enrolled in UA, and Aizawa wasnât even her teacher while she was attending. âItâs Tsue, sir. Maho Tsue. Alumnus of UA. Iâm here because Iâm supposed to talk to the students about the life of a pro hero as someone who only graduated a few years ago. You know, what to expect and all that.â

tiredheroesâ:
Mr. Aizawa had plopped himself outside of his classroom. He really didnât like Motherâs Day, and it showed. He always seemed more tired than usualâwhich was a lot, coming from himâand less responsive that day.Â
He gave a deep, melancholy sigh. He didnât even notice when somebody approached.
It was around that moment that a woman appeared down the hallway, stopping for a bit at the sight of a huge caterpillar slumped on the floor. Maho squinted her eyes, only realizing after a few seconds of staring that this wasnât a caterpillar at all, but an occupied sleeping bag.
She couldnât see any distinguishing features of the person in said sleeping bag even as she approached because they were facing away from her, but there was nobody else she knew of that could so easily set up shop like that in the most peculiar locations. Instead of calling out to him in case he was actually asleep, Maho lightly prodded the middle of the sleeping bag with her foot. âSo, uh, what are you doing here, Mr. Aizawa? Besides the obvious, I mean.â
