“Why thank you. “ Kalus loved being showered in flattery , and ate it up like 00.01 ate cookies. “ It’s an old imported real leather. My brother bought it for me for my 25th birthday. It’s too expensive for you.” He wasn’t the nicest guy so he really didn’t care if this small boy was upset. Looking down at his feet , he remembered the present body. “ Fuck, wait. You do see the body don’t you?” 

“Probably.  Then again money is still weird for me so who knows.”  Boomer isn’t even phased.  “What. . .oh that one !”  boomer said, looking to the face.  Oh that’s him. . .wait a minute. . .no that’ snot him.  “Poor guy.  Hope the bad guys didn’t get to them.”

“Well you don’t have to be lonely anymore.” Jaya was relieved more than anything. There was hope to see her family again , to see the people from home. She’d tried driving home , but the feeling of sickness had her coming back to dc as soon as she hit Baltimore. Jaya felt tears well up in her eyes and soon she found herself crying , her arms wrapped tightly around the human version of her canine companion. 

Boomer squeezes her.  “It’s okay Rook. . .don’t cry.”  He rubs her back.

Jaya wasn’t prepared for this. She was confused, sure , but didn’t immediately recognize it as her friend. Boomer was a good dog , and Rae-rae had been a close friend of her and her family as well . She’d taken good care of him after what happened to rae-rae. With everything going on in this world , it really wasn’t hard to believe that it was her friend. “ Boomer? Oh my god. “She smiled and hugged back , the hug being different from the usual head scratches she usually gave him , but it had the same amount of affection. “I’m glad you’re the first thing I see from home … and you’re human now. That’s  , that’s wild!” 

“I’m like you !  I don’t know how but. . .I’m here !  I was lonely for so long.”  Boomer said and squeezes his friend; the woman who saved him from the cage and took him in after his family died (his second set).

“Oh?” He questioned, brow raising. “Then what do I look like, if not practically dead?”

“You look. . .tired.  Not dead.”  He’s seen dead and dead don’t look like that.

“No need.” Danny tells the other, a ghost of a rueful smile on his face. “’M sure I look like death warmed over.”

“No I don’t think so.”  Boomer said with a tilt of his head.

“But what if it makes us forget who we are.  I was here when a poison made all the non-humans go crazy and attack.  What if does something worse?”  

“Excuse me.”  Boomer says, tapping on someone’s shoulder.  “I never been to a carnival like this before so I was wondering what’s the best thing to do in one ?”  

“Why does it feel like I’m the only one that doesn’t trust this place ?”  Root asks, looking at the rides in disgust. . .and it might he attributed to him in that stage where everything that isn’t his game is annoying but there’s something more to this place. 

“Cupcakes !  Get your fall cupcakes !  Courtesy of Buttercream Bakeshop !”  GIR yelled from his booth.  No one knows if he was authorized to do this but it’s GIR so he was going to do it anyways to get business across.
