You woke up to something warm and heavy draped across your torso.
Well, not something—someone. A very enthusiastic, 6'2" someone who was currently mumbling in his sleep with his nose smushed into your shoulder.
“Kou?” you murmured, your voice still heavy with sleep.
He let out a soft snore in response and burrowed closer, his arms tightening around you as if afraid you’d disappear. His hair, usually wild and proud, now flopped gently onto his forehead in soft tufts, a rare sight that made your heart melt a little more.
You let yourself relax again, tracing slow circles on his back. Morning sunlight filtered through the curtains, casting your room in a golden glow. The quiet hum of the city outside was soothing, distant and far away from this little pocket of peace you’d built with him.
“Kou,” you whispered again, poking his side gently. “You’re squishing me.”
He stirred, one golden eye peeking open. “Mmm… comfy,” he mumbled, before nuzzling your neck with a smile. “You’re soooo warm…”
“I’m your weighted blanket now,” he declared, voice muffled and dramatic.
You laughed, and that made him lift his head, beaming sleepily down at you with that unmistakable Bokuto grin—the one that always made you feel like you were the only person in the world.
“You’re smiling,” you said, brushing a bit of hair off his forehead.
“‘Cause I’m with you,” he replied simply, before flopping dramatically beside you and pulling you into his chest. “Best place to be.”
There was a beat of silence, soft and comfortable. Then:
“Do we have to get up today?” he asked, voice already drifting off again.
“Nope,” you said, tangling your fingers with his. “Not if you don’t want to.”
“Perfect,” he yawned. “Then let’s stay right here. Forever.”
And maybe it was silly. Maybe it was over-the-top. But wrapped up in his arms, with the morning light kissing your skin and his heartbeat thumping steadily beneath your ear—it didn’t sound like a bad idea at all.
