What a question! I love ones that really get your mind thinking. The definition of what constitutes a sandwich or a soup is really up to the person. I can provide my own take on the debate of course.

The whole concept of these sorts of questions might seem like a fun debate to get into with friends, or even strangers (after all, there’s no better entertainment than seeing someone get worked up over something like this); however, if you sit down and think about it it’s really more complicated than that!

There’s a philosophical theory proposed by Plato known as The Theory of Forms, that, according to Plato, are merely ideas of things that actually exist. They represent what each thing is supposed to be for it to be that specific individual thing.

To be taken into context of the question, on the matter of if a hot dog is a sandwich or if a smoothie is a soup... The Form of a sandwich shows qualities that something must have in order to be a sandwich. It’s simply a depiction of the idea of what a sandwich is.

However, no actual sandwich is an absolute perfect representation of the Form sandwich. They are similar, yes, they can be frighteningly similar, but every sandwich is different, and none are a 100% perfect representation of the Form no matter how much it seems it is.

Same goes for soups! You can get as close as you can to the idea of a perfect soup, but none are going to be perfect within in the framework of the Forms.

Of course... there are flaws with Plato’s theory, he even admitted to it being limiting. Aristotle also criticized Plato’s forms, though that is something I could spend several more posts explaining that I simply don’t have the time for (even this post is taking a bit longer than I’d like due to being so busy). I can also draw parallels between squares and rectangles. Meaning, while a square is a rectangle (as well as a rhombus), a rectangle is not necessarily a square. So theoretically, a hot dog could be a sandwich but a sandwich isn’t necessarily a hot dog.

I realize I’m probably dancing around the question but I simply could not help myself with laying out the philosophical implications of your question! So, is a hot dog a sandwich and is a smoothie a soup? The answer lies in each persons own perceptions. But what is MY perception of it?

Working on my various plans and projects have left me very little time to sit down and write out long responses to some questions I’ve already received (they’ll be answered in due time).

In the mean time, I have several discarded riddles, puzzles, and ciphers left over from projects where I never got the chance to use them. Perhaps we should play a game? Make sure to read everything carefully!

It’s fairly simple. I will provide you with a riddle where the answer is somehow connected to a specific type of code or cipher you’ll need to break. Once breaking the code, assuming you’ve done so correctly, you’ll be able to use the decoded message to figure out the next riddle and so forth.

Sounds easy enough, yes?

Ah, I forgot about rules, silly me. The rules for this game go as follows....

Now for the first riddle!

Oh! I, uh... That old crow. Yes, I have a lot of thoughts and choice words to say to him! He’s annoying, creepy, and constantly points out things I’ve done that really should not be pointed out. The Riddler does not make mistakes! They are merely set backs and nothing more.

Our friendship (if you can even call it that) has always been a bit rocky, but that’s what makes it fun! Well, fun until a certain someone sneaks into your room in the middle of the night and decides to attempt to inject you with his concoction of horrid chemicals...

That being said... He’s also incredibly smart with the things that he does and he’s not that bad to look at either. Not that that means anything of course! You can can find someone attractive without being attracted to them.

And uh, you know, it might’ve crossed my mind before... but I’ve also wondered what it’d be like to be with some of the other Rogues as well!

I have quite a few conspiracy theories cooked up as they’re one of my favorite hobbies, to research and debunk and make! The ones I’ve made may or may not be floating around on the internet or come up in general conversation amongst the greater population of Gotham. Perhaps it would be a challenge for you to find out which ones are mine? ;)

As for any new ones, I may have been working on that I have hopes of catching quickly as it builds upon an existing theory already.

The birds are said to be government drones, correct? We all know that the Bat has those Robins around him all the time (it’s really quite annoying if I do say so myself).
